Welcome to the MCIWEST CREDO page!
“CREDO programs build spiritual fitness and personal growth through retreats and workshops that strengthen resilience, enhance relationships, and improve readiness for service.”
— Ref: MCO 1738.1B, para. 4b The Chaplains Religious Enrichment Development Operation (CREDO) is a chaplain-led, Navy-funded program that supports the Department of the Navy’s Strategic Plan for Religious Ministry by advancing spiritual readiness and resilience. CREDO began in 1971 as the Chaplains Response to the Emerging Drug Order (CREDO), when Chaplain (Captain) Don Harris gathered small groups of Vietnam-era service members seeking healing and hope. Since then CREDO has grown into the Chaplains Religious Enrichment Development Operation (CREDO)—a vital expression of the Navy’s Religious Ministry. Today, grounded in the Chaplain Corps’ CARE core capability, CREDO continues that legacy by offering voluntary, chaplain-led retreats and workshops that strengthen spiritual readiness by addressing the inner dimensions of resiliency. CREDO MCI West offers Marriage Enrichment Retreats, Marriage Enrichment Workshops, Family Enrichment Retreats, Personal Growth Workshops, and su***de intervention training using LivingWorks curricula. Each program is designed to support the moral and spiritual well-being of service members and their families by strengthening relationships, deepening self-awareness, and renewing a sense of meaning and purpose - building inner strength from higher purposes. CREDO programs are fully funded and offered at no cost to active duty members, Reservists in an active status, retirees, and their immediate family members.
