🚒🔥 Fire Prevention Week at McQuerry Elementary! 🔥🚒

This week, Odessa Fire & Rescue Protection District had the opportunity to visit the students at McQuerry Elementary to talk about an important topic — FIRE SAFETY!

Our firefighters enjoyed spending time with the students, teaching them about fire prevention, what to do if a fire occurs, the importance of having working smoke alarms, and how to GET OUT, STAY OUT, and CALL 911! 📞🚨

We love getting out into our community and helping our youngest citizens learn how to stay safe. The questions, smiles, and excitement from these students made our visit extra special!

A huge THANK YOU to the staff at McQuerry Elementary for welcoming us and helping us make fire safety education a priority.

🚑 A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE PATTERSON FAMILY FOUNDATION! 🚑

Odessa Fire & Rescue Protection District would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Patterson Foundation for providing a grant that allowed us to obtain two new LIFEPAK 35 cardiac monitors! ❤️‍🩹

These new monitors are an important investment in the emergency medical care we provide to the citizens of our community. They give our crews updated technology and enhanced capabilities to assess and treat patients during some of their most critical moments.

Our crews recently participated in training on the new monitors to ensure our crews are prepared to put this equipment to work when our community needs us most.

Thank you, Patterson Foundation, for investing in the health and safety of the citizens we serve! Your support helps Odessa Fire & Rescue continue to provide the best possible care to our community. 🚒

🚜🍂Harvest Season
Safety Reminder

It’s that time of year again- farmers are hard at work bringing in the harvest. You’ll see more tractors, combines, and grain trucks on our roads especially on rural highways.
Please use extra caution:

* Slow down & be patient when approaching farm equipment.

*Give plenty of space for wide turns & slow- moving vehicles

*Avoid distractions & keep your focus on the road

Our farmers are working long hours to feed our communities. Let’s do our part to keep them, and ourselves, safe this harvest season. 🍂🚒

🚒 What Is Mutual Aid & Why Do Fire Departments Use It?

🤝 Neighbors Helping Neighbors!

Did you know fire departments often work together to keep our communities safe? This is called MUTUAL AID, and it's an important part of emergency response.

🚨 What Is Mutual Aid?

Mutual aid is an agreement between fire departments and emergency services to help one another during emergencies. When one department needs additional resources, neighboring departments can respond with firefighters, ambulances, equipment, and support.

🔥 Why Do Fire Departments Use Mutual Aid?

✅ Additional Resources: Large fires, serious accidents, and multiple emergencies may require more personnel and equipment than one department has available.

✅ Faster Emergency Response: Neighboring departments can assist when local crews are already busy or additional help is needed.

✅ Community Safety: Working together helps provide a stronger emergency response for everyone in our communities.

✅ Teamwork & Training: Departments build relationships, train together, and learn how to work effectively during emergencies.

🚒 Mutual Aid Works Both Ways!

Odessa Fire & Rescue Protection District is proud to work alongside neighboring fire departments and emergency services. When we need help, our partners are there for us. When they need help, we're there for them!

We may serve different districts, but we share the same mission: Protecting our communities and keeping our citizens safe.

Twenty-five years later, we still remember. Today, we honor the innocent lives lost, the incredible bravery of the first responders, and the resilience that brought us together. We will never forget.

25 years later, the promise remains the same: We Will Never Forget. 🇺🇸 Over two decades may have passed, but our hearts remain with the families who lost loved ones, and our gratitude stays with the heroes who ran towards danger.
