Federal Indictment Following Investigation Into Alleged Threats Against Utah Synagogue
An Ogden man has been federally indicted following a joint investigation by the FBI and the Ogden City Police Department into alleged threats of violence against a Utah synagogue.
On October 21, 2026, a federal grand jury indicted Skyler AJ Rose, 22, of Ogden, on multiple federal charges, including possession of an unregistered destructive device, threats involving explosives, and an attempted hate crime.
According to federal court documents, the investigation began after threatening statements were allegedly posted online in December 2025.
The FBI contacted Utah State Information Analysis Center and Ogden Police regarding the posts. OPD responded to the suspects home, and during the investigation, law enforcement recovered six improvised explosive pipe bombs, an inert device, explosive-related materials, and fi****ms from the residence.
This case highlights the importance of cooperation between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies when responding to serious threats against our communities.
As Chief Jake Sube stated: βNo single agency has every piece of information or every resource needed to address threats of this magnitude.β
We are grateful for the work of the FBI and all participating agencies whose coordination and investigative efforts helped address these serious allegations.
Everyone deserves to feel safe in their community and in their place of worship.
Threats of violence have no place in Ogden or anywhere else.
The investigation remains a joint effort between the FBI Salt Lake City Field Office and the Ogden City Police Department.
An indictment contains allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
