💧Thank you to all those who are working hard to keep our water flowing safely.

The journey water takes from rivers and streams all the way to our homes takes a lot of behind-the-scenes hard work and dedication.

Thank you to the water operators and maintenance crews, engineers, field staff, conservation professionals, and everyone who helps to maintain and improve our water systems.

Their work helps keep our water systems running, our resources protected, and our communities prepared for the future.

Thank you! 💙

Freezing temperatures can be tough on irrigation systems. Proper winterization helps remove water from the vulnerable components before temperatures drop.

Just because your water is shut off, that doesn’t mean your system is ready for winter. Preparing your irrigation systems for winter includes:

🟢 Irrigation controller is turned off
🟢 Irrigation lines have been drained
🟢 Backflow prevention device has been winterized
🟢 Exposed components are protected
🟢 Leaks/damage have been identified

🍂 Why does secondary water get shut off in the fall?

As temperatures drop, shutting off secondary water helps protect your irrigation system and your lawn during the winter months.

💧Protects your pipes: Turning off the water gives irrigation lines time to drain. This helps prevent water from freezing inside the pipes, which can cause pipes to crack or burst.

🌱Protects your lawn: As temperatures cool, grass growth slows and your lawn needs less water. Continuing to water a dormant lawn can leave the soil overly wet and create conditions that may contribute to root problems and disease.

📅Secondary water shutoff reminder: Pineview Water Systems will shut off secondary water. Winterize your irrigation systems after October 15 to prepare for the winter months.

Thank you for helping us protect our water system and prepare for the season ahead! 💧🍁

💧What is a water meter?

A water meter is a device that measures how much water is flowing through your water line.

For secondary water, the meter tracks how much irrigation water you use. This helps you monitor your water usage, stay within your allotted amount, and identify unusual usage that could indicate a leak or other issues.

👉Follow the step-by-step instructions in our “Once You’ve Registered” guide to see how to read your water usage:

💧Have you ever wondered, “Where does my water come from?”

The water delivered through the Pineview Water System begins in the Ogden River and is stored in Pineview Reservoir, created by Pineview Dam in Ogden Canyon.

From there, the water travels through a network of canals and pipelines to provide irrigation water to agricultural lands and residents throughout the Ogden area. 🌱

This water is intended for irrigation and other approved outdoor uses, such as watering lawns, gardens, and landscaping.

💦Remember: Secondary water is not drinking water.

Understanding where our water comes from and how it gets to us helps us better appreciate and protect this valuable resource. 💙💧
