As always, had fun helping lead a mock legislative session for Youth Leadership Oklahoma Class 26 at the State Capitol! These young leaders got a firsthand look at how policy is made. We also had an opportunity for Q&A afterward.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice secured the freedoms we enjoy each day and reminds us that liberty is never free.

On this Memorial Day, may we reflect with gratitude, remember those we’ve lost, and keep their families in our thoughts and prayers. May we strive to live lives worthy of their sacrifice. 🇺🇸

Weeks 13-14: That’s a Wrap!

We’ve been in the final stretch of session. At this stage, much of our work shifted to conference committees, where House and Senate members came together to resolve differences in bills and make sure the final versions were ready to move forward.

We also carefully reviewed vetoed bills and considered potential veto overrides where we believed legislation still deserved to become law. The goal was to finish strong, stay focused, and complete the People’s work responsibly.

Last Thursday, the Second Session of the 60th Oklahoma Legislature officially adjourned Sine Die.

As this session came to a close, I also reflected on the fact that this was my eighth legislative session serving my fellow Lawtonians in . Over the years, I’ve gained a tremendous amount of experience navigating the legislative process, building bipartisan relationships, and learning how to effectively move policy forward. Each session has brought new challenges, opportunities, and lessons that continue to shape my approach to public service.

I’m grateful for the trust Lawtonians have placed in me and for the opportunity to continue serving Lawton Fort Sill at the State Capitol. While every session has its ups and downs, I remain committed to working thoughtfully, collaboratively, and responsibly on behalf of Oklahoma.

It was a pleasure meeting with British Consul General Richard Shackleton this morning to discuss the enduring special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom.

We had a great conversation about strengthening economic ties, international partnerships, and the importance of continued collaboration between our communities. Grateful for the opportunity to connect and build on this important relationship. 🇺🇸🇬🇧

Great to host Abbigail Barnes as a page during the final week of session!

Abbigail hopes to attend either University of Oklahoma or the University of Alabama and plans to study nursing and minor in marketing. She recently received her Certified Nursing Assistant certificate from Great Plains Technology Center and also works as a marketing manager for a water company. A member of JROTC, Abbigail was recently named Battalion Commander for her unit.

She’s an outstanding young leader with an impressive work ethic and a clear vision for her future. She hopes to become a trauma surgeon after leaving military service and is also interested in pursuing a law degree.

Honored to recognize the outstanding cadets and leadership of MacArthur High School Highlanders JROTC at the Capitol.

For the fifth year in a row, they’ve been named the Best Army Unit in Oklahoma at the JROTC Drill Team Championships. This is a remarkable testament to the discipline, leadership, and hard work of these cadets and their instructors Major Craig Redfearn and Command Sgt. Major Jesse Batts.

In addition to Best Army Unit, MacArthur JROTC also won:

* 1st Place: Armed Division - Inspection, Regulation, and Exhibition Categories
* 1st Place: Unarmed Division - Inspection Category
* 2nd Place: Unarmed Division - Exhibition Category
* 3rd Place: Unarmed Division - Regulation Category
* 3rd Place: Armed Male Color Guard and Unarmed Female Color Guard Categories
* Commanders Excellence Award (Armed): Cadet Scott Mahrer
* Cadet Col. Miranda Dodd Award (Top Cadet in State): Cadet Braden Evans
* 3rd Place: Armed Knockout Drill, Emma Hilburn
* 2nd Place: Unarmed Knockout Drill, Emma Hilburn

Programs like JROTC build discipline, teamwork, and a strong sense of service in the next generation of leaders. These cadets represent the very best of dedication, character, and commitment to their community and country.

Congratulations to these cadets on this outstanding accomplishment. We are all incredibly proud of you!

House Minority Leader Cyndi Munson, Rep. Andy Fugate, and I passed a resolution recognizing May 2026 as Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

This month, we celebrate the history, culture, and contributions of AAPI communities across Oklahoma and encourage everyone to support AAPI-owned businesses and events. Proud to honor the impact AAPI families have made on our state and nation.

This is also the final legislative session for Leader Munson, and as a fellow Lawtonian, I want to wish her all the best and thank her for her decade of public service to our state.

We’re grateful to have had Ally Burwell interning in our office during this past legislative session! She’s been a tremendous help and brought great energy, curiosity, and a strong work ethic to everything she worked on.

As a fellow OU SGA, TOG, and Ewing alum, I love seeing the next generation step into public service and make the most of these opportunities. Ally has a bright future ahead, and we’re proud of all she’s accomplished.

This summer, she’ll be heading to Washington, D.C. to intern for Senator Lankford! Please join us in wishing Ally all the best as she continues her journey toward a career in public service.

Week 12: Run to Remember

We’ve now concluded committee meetings and will focus on considering bills on the House Floor during the next two weeks.

We’re keeping our friends in Enid in our thoughts as they begin recovering from the recent tornado damage. Oklahomans always come together in times like these, and we’re grateful for the first responders, volunteers, and neighbors stepping up to help Enid rebuild.

I enjoyed hosting Lily Wyatt as a page. She’s a junior at Eisenhower High School, where she maintains a 4.0 GPA, ranks in the top 10 of her class, and is a member of both the Oklahoma Honors Society and National Honor Society. She’s also enrolled as a concurrent student at Cameron University.

In addition to her academic achievements, Lily is deeply involved in extracurricular activities. She serves as president of both the Partners Club and Student Council and participates in Key Club and NHS. She is active in varsity pom, studio dance and powerlifting. Additionally, Lily interns with the Oklahoma Special Olympics.

She did a wonderful job serving as a House page this week, and I have no doubt she has a bright future ahead and will continue to make a meaningful impact. After graduation, Lily plans to attend OU studying behavioral health and science before pursuing medical school to become a pediatric developmental doctor. She hopes to continue supporting and advocating for Special Olympics programs.

And it was an honor to help celebrate 100 years of leadership, service, and impact with Lawton Business Women. Their century of empowering women and strengthening Lawton Fort Sill is truly inspiring, and I’m grateful to have been part of such a special milestone.

Tomorrow, I’ll be running the half marathon in the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon Run to Remember, which is a powerful tribute that brings people together in reflection and resilience. It’s always a meaningful reminder of the strength, unity, and compassion that define Oklahoma.
