The OEA has existed for more than 130 years. Our first meeting was in Guthrie, Christmas Day 1889. Why? Because a group of educators wanted to use their voices to improve public schools and Christmas was their only day off.
We'll never stop fighting for . It's our DNA.

Congratulations to the 2022 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year, Rebecka Peterson of Union Public Schools - Tulsa, OK!
In her acceptance, Peterson said "Public education is what's still right in our society" and we could not agree more. Thank you to her, the finalists, and teachers all across Oklahoma who are a light in our children's lives!

SB 1647 passed out of the Appropriations Committee 12-8.
Please thank J.J. Dossett, Tom Dugger for Oklahoma State Senate, Kay Floyd, Senator Darcy Jech, Senator Julia Kirt, Senator Roland Pederson, Dewayne Pemberton & Senator Darrell Weaver for voting no and standing up for Oklahoma public schools!
The massive voucher bill now moves on to the full Senate, so contact your Senator and tell them to vote no because public dollars must stay in public schools!
