It's Fire Prevention Week!🚒

Fire Preventions week is observed each year during the week of October 9th, with this year's theme being "Charge Into Fire Safety, Safe Charging Is a Superpower."

This year, leadership from the 137th SOW signed a proclamation to reaffirm our commitment to fire safety education and fire prevention efforts.

We also teamed up with Sparky the Fire Dog to help spread fire safety and prevention awareness to Will Rogers Air National Guard Base, Will Rogers International Airport, and the FAA Child Care Center.

Part of the pack! 🐾

The 137th SOW hosted the fifth annual Zoo After Dark event! Nearly 1,000 members with their family and friends strolled through the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden.

Our Airmen and their families enjoyed a night out thanks to the Airmen and Family Readiness Center, funded by the Preservation of the Force and Family program. This event allowed members to recharge while learning about all the benefits the Guard provides.

The Zoo After Dark program has supported 137th SOW families for five years, providing opportunities for Air Commandos and their loved ones to spend time together on drill weekends and ensure they are aware of the support and resources available to military members and their families. In total, 705 people have explored the resources and support offered to members of the 137th SOW.

Today Airmen and local first responders came together at Will Rogers ANGB to honor those who were lost 25 years ago on September 11th.

We especially remember because we were there. The 137th had one of the first aircraft back in the air in the aftermath to provide donated blood to New York. We will never forget.

Last week, I had the incredible honor of flying with Capt. Dalton ‘Pocket’ Scott at the Oklahoma Air National Guard’s 137th Special Operations Wing in the OA-1K Skyraider II.

As one of this next-gen aircraft’s first cadre pilots, Capt. Scott is helping pioneer new tactics and integrate cutting-edge mission systems that will define the next era of special operations aviation. Airmen like those at the 137th SOW are the reason our National Guard, our special operations forces and the entire Joint Force stay ready to win — anywhere, anytime.
