Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness OPSR works to advance sound policies and promote best-practices to improve early learning.

The Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness (OPSR), also formerly referred to as Smart Start Oklahoma, serves as the state's Early Childhood Advisory Council. The Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness (OPSR), also formerly referred to as Smart Start Oklahoma, serves as Oklahoma's Early Childhood Advisory Council. OPSR seeks to improve early childhood opportunities for young children and their families in our state. Our mission is to lead Oklahoma in coordinating an early childhood system focused on strengthening families and school readiness for all children. We envision all Oklahoma children will be safe, healthy, eager to learn and ready to succeed by the time they enter school.

💪 Strong schools start with strong leaders, and the Beth Cannon Leadership Academy brought a full house of them to Oklahoma City. Leaders dug into how to lead themselves, their staff and their schools, and left with tools they can use right away.

Want to help your baby get mobile on their own? Try playtime on the floor, tummy time or set a toy just out of reach. This will encourage them to build the muscle strength needed to crawl or walk.

OPSR Director of Early Literacy, Erin Bell, spoke to members of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America about the impact of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and the difference they can make. Northeast District 4 FCCLA members showed up and delivered, bringing books for local hospitals and libraries.

Thank you to these young leaders for giving Oklahoma kids a head start on their next favorite story.

Dressing your baby for bedtime? Here are some tips to make sure they sleep comfortably and safely. 💤

Lightweight, breathable cotton onesies or footed pajamas are a great place to start. Swap loose blankets for a wearable one so your baby can move freely. Save the hats, bibs and hoods for playtime.

Once they are dressed and ready for bed, lay your baby down alone, on their back and in an empty crib.

OPSR was part of a very important interim study today at the State Capitol. Our Deputy Director Stephanie Lippert presented data on the true costs of child care and the workforce issues that limit families ability to access care in their communities.

Strong partnerships help create smoother transitions for Oklahoma’s youngest learners.

The 2026 Transition Summit at the Oklahoma City Zoo brought educators and community partners together to strengthen the transition from early childhood settings into K-12 schools.

Through guest speakers, breakout sessions, a resource fair and opportunities to exchange ideas, attendees gained practical tools and built relationships to support children and families in their schools and centers.

Thank you to the Oklahoma State Department of Education, the Oklahoma Head Start Collaboration Office and everyone who joined us for a day of learning and collaboration!

At a recent FCCLA North 4 District leadership conference, a "Miracle Minute", officers raised money for the Imagination Library and raised $634 for local program partners. They students also collected more than 500 books to donate to charity and communities in need.
