Many thanks to everyone who made the PFFO 48th General Convention in Oklahoma City a success -- from Oklahoma firefighter leaders and delegates to our sponsors and partners, elected officials and their staffs, our class instructors, and guests. Convention action and educational breakout sessions focused on helping our members deliver excellent service around Oklahoma, further strengthen the fire service and support firefighters and their families. In convention action, President Ricky Burns, 2nd District Vice President Les Leach, 4th District Vice President Sam Smith, and 6th District Vice President Derek Nusser were re-elected. Kyle Wilson was elected as Trustee, succeeding Trustee Emeritus Justin Hackworth. All were sworn in by Michael Glynn, IAFF District 11 Vice President. Thanks, Justin for your service to professional firefighters in Oklahoma! And thanks to PFFO administrator Michelle Hayer for your yearlong preparation for and work during the convention.

Through a new PFFO grant program, Oklahoma firefighters from Bartlesville Professional Firefighters Local 200, Enid L-243, Glenpool Firefighters IAFF Local 2990, and Pauls Valley Professional Firefighter Association IAFF Local 4455 are attending the IAFF Strive for Excellence Summit this week. The event offers 19 tracks of training and education.

Oklahoma firefighter leaders and PFFO representatives began the day early in Las Vegas with the first sessions of the inaugural IAFF Strive for Excellence Summit. This week, the IAFF is providing more than 100 presentations and hands-on training in 19 focus areas intended to help affiliates strengthen their service to members and to the public.
