Congratulations to Jennifer Baker, Class 36, receiving an honorable mention for The Excellence in Theatre Education Award in this year’s Tony Awards!

We are proud to announce Jennifer Baker, our Executive Director of The Sooner Theatre and The Studio of The Sooner Theatre, received an honorable mention for The Excellence in Theatre Education Award in this year’s Tony Awards. Her vision has created educational performing arts programming that has impacted thousands of lives in our community and will continue to do so for years to come.

Established in 2014, The Excellence in Theatre Education Award, is presented each year by the Tony Awards and is sponsored by Carnegie Mellon University. A panel of judges comprised of the American Theatre Wing, The Broadway League, Carnegie Mellon University and other leaders from the theatre industry selects the winner, based on candidates submitted by members of the public.

There's still time to register for the Sporting Clay Challenge on June 18th at Silverleaf Shotgun Sports!

Whether you're a seasoned shooter or trying sporting clays for the first time, this event offers a welcoming and engaging experience for all skill levels.

The day kicks off with registration at 9:00 AM. A mandatory safety meeting at 9:45 AM will ensure everyone is prepared before we begin shooting promptly at 10:00 AM. After the competition, stick around to enjoy lunch and awards from 12:00–1:00 PM, where we’ll celebrate top shooters and great camaraderie.

Congratulations to Jane C.K. Fitch, Class XX & Lifetime Member, for being named Lamar University's 2026 Distinguished Alumna!

Lamar University is proud to name 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐂.𝐊. 𝐅𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡, 𝐌.𝐃. a 2026 Distinguished Alumna. She earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Lamar University in 1978, graduating cm laude. She began her career as an intensive care nurse before becoming a certified nurse anesthetist and later earning her medical degree with honors. Fitch held leadership roles at Yale University and Baylor College of Medicine and served as chair of anesthesiology at the University of Oklahoma. A nationally recognized leader, she became the second woman elected president of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and has advised organizations worldwide. Now retired, she remains active in supporting education and academic institutions.
