Some people talk about community. Others show up and put in the work. ❤️

This Saturday, we had the pleasure of having members of the Imperial Court spend their day volunteering at the pantry, and we couldn’t be more grateful. 🥹

The Imperial Court has a long history of showing up for the LGBTQ+ community, and there’s something incredibly meaningful about seeing that commitment first hand. 🫶🏽

It’s easy to celebrate community when there’s a big event, a crown, or a spotlight. But showing up on an ordinary Saturday, rolling up your sleeves, and doing the work? That’s where the heart is. ❤️‍🔥

To our friends at the Imperial Court, thank you for spending your Saturday with us, for the laughs, the helping hands, and for being part of what makes this community so special. ✨

The Path with Heart isn’t just something we say. It’s something we do. ❤️

There are some days that fill your cup in a way you don’t even realize you needed. 🥹🥲

AIDS Walk OKC was one of those days. ❤️

We are still sitting with just how much love showed up. 🫶🏽🫶🏽

Our clients. Our volunteers. Our staff. Our friends and families. People who have been part of Other Options for years and people who simply believe in what we do. You came out, put on those pink shirts, and stood beside us.

And y’all… THE SHIRTS. 😂🌸

Apparently we made them a little too cute because people kept asking how they could get one. Before we knew it, we were taking donations for shirts right there at our tent. Seeing people who weren’t even part of our original group wanting to wear Other Options was pretty special. Thank you again to Ratcliff Ink / OkiePrint for making these shirts so special. 🌸💖

But our favorite part was looking around and seeing our people everywhere. ✨

Pink shirts. People laughing and talking. Old friends finding each other. New connections being made. People carrying chairs, passing out water, taking pictures, checking on each other and just enjoying being together.

And then it was time to walk.

The clouds that had been hanging over us split open, the sun came pouring through, and we walked. 🤌🏽

There was something about that moment that felt bigger than us. For one mile, we got to move together as a community. Not just as an organization. Not as clients, staff, volunteers or supporters.

Just people standing beside people. ✨

And THAT is what we will remember when we look back at these pictures.

Not numbers. Not awards (we did get ‘em’ though 🥹). Not who did what.

Faces. Pink shirts. Sunshine. Community. Love.

Thank you for trusting us. Thank you for believing in this little pantry with a very big heart. Thank you for giving your time, your energy and yourselves to this community.

And most of all, thank you for allowing Other Options to show up and show OUT.

What a beautiful day. Ms. Janine would be so proud. 💖

We love our people. And man, do we have some good ones. 🤌🏽✨🫶🏽

🏆❤️ THREE TROPHIES, Y’ALL. THREE. ❤️🏆

Other Options showed UP at AIDS Walk OKC this year, and we have some celebrating to do!

A huge shoutout to Jennifer, who took home the Spirit Award! ❤️ If you know Jennifer, you already know that energy is REAL and she brought every bit of it with her.

And a HUGE congratulations to Brandon for winning Most Funds Raised by an Individual! Every dollar raised matters, and Brandon absolutely showed out for this community.

And then there’s this one…

🏆 BIGGEST TEAM.

That trophy belongs to every single person who registered, showed up, put on that pink shirt, walked with us, cheered us on, volunteered, donated, shared our posts, and helped us reach the goal we set for ourselves.

We wanted to show up BIG this year.

And we did.

Thank you for showing OKC exactly what happens when this community comes together. 🌸❤️

Our AIDS Walk OKC shirts are officially here, and seeing them in person makes this year feel even more special. 🌸🖤

This Sunday, October 4, our Options in Bloom team will be walking in pink in honor of our beloved Ms. Janine. We’ll be carrying her memory with us every step of that mile. 💗

This year’s AIDS Walk of Oklahoma City, Inc. theme is Alive to Thrive, and when we started putting everything together, we knew this year needed to feel a little extra special.

So we went PINK. 💗

Pink was Ms. Janine’s favorite color. Losing her is still incredibly fresh, and there’s a huge piece of our Other Options family missing without her. So this year, we’re carrying a little piece of her with us. 🥹

I don’t know why and maybe it’s because I’m 54, but I looked at this and immediately thought of the 80’s Paste Picante Sauce commercial and I can’t stop thinking, “Get a rope!” 🤣😂

Who calls this Chicken Paws?! It has to be a Yankee! I have no other explanation!

Am I the only one that is surprised by this?!🫣

AIDS Walk of Oklahoma City, Inc.’s AIDS Walk is Sunday, October 4th, and we need you registered to walk with Other Options!

Last year, we actually had the biggest walk team… but because not everyone registered under our team, it didn’t officially count. 😭 We are NOT letting that happen again.

This year we’re going for that Biggest Walk Team title for real, so grab your friends, your family, your coworkers, everybody, and make sure you actually register with Other Options.

And yes… registered walkers get an Other Options team shirt 👀🌸
