Congratulations to all of the CCAs that made regular today, especially those that have had the patience to stick around through all the years of what seemed like futility. Today is the first day of your new career. Make the best you can of it. Strive to make it a better place to work and become active in your local union.

thanks to the 30+ CCAs that came to our first ever Knowledge is Power class. I know many of you had things to do today and couldn't make it, while some madeit but had to leave early. Either way, we had a good turnout. Thanks to Bruce Cavner (Moore), Ken Mayfield (Britton), Chris Prieto (Shartel), Mark Simone (Sourheast), Bill Miller (retired), Steve Riggs (retired) and my girlfriend Candace for their help putting this together.

For those who receive mail in Moore, OK, I just spoke with the Oklahoma District office of the US Postal Service. There is not yet a solid plan in place of how to facilitate mail delivery to PO Box customers and those who were displaced from their homes. The Postal Service is working with the city of Moore to try to set something up within the city limits, but nothing is final yet.
In the meantime, all mail destined for Moore, OK is being routed through the Airport Finance Unit, formerly called the Airport Mail Facility, located at 6500 Air Cargo Road, on the Will Rogers World Airport property. While this is a considerable distance from Moore, OK, currently it's the best option to meet short term needs due to the size of the Moore postal operation. There simply isn't a building that is postal owned/leased that can house an operation of that size any closer to Moore residents. I will have more updates as they come.

Carper schedules another hearing on USPS for next Wednesday - postalnews blog
When it’s not naming post offices or creating phony budget crises, the one thing Congress seems to excel at is holding hearings. This Congress looks to be no different than the last in that regard- Senator Tom Carper has already scheduled the first hearing on “Solutions to the Crisis Facing the U.S....
