🧡 Day out with Ryker!

Ryker spent the day out and about, and he was an absolute gentleman the entire time. He rides great in the car, walks beautifully on leash, and stayed calm, quiet, and relaxed while exploring new places. He loved meeting new people and soaking up attention wherever he went. No reactivity to other dogs or wildlife—just an easygoing, happy boy enjoying his adventure.

Ryker is affectionate, well-mannered, and ready for a home of his own. He’d do best without cats or small dogs and prefers canine friends closer to his size. As always, slow introductions are key.

🧡 Ryker A474616 is a 2 years old, 52 pounds German Shepherd mix. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

🥳 You too can take a shelter dog out for the day! Come up during our open hours — Tuesday through Saturday 9–5pm. All adoptable dogs 6 months and up qualify for a day trip!

👅 Happy ! For Alfred, every day is Tongue Out Tuesday!

This handsome boy is missing a few teeth, so his tongue has a habit of sticking out and honestly, we think it just adds to his charm.

Alfred came to us after being left behind in an apartment when his owners moved out on May 22nd. Since then, he's been patiently waiting for someone to give him the forever home he deserves. And we're genuinely stumped as to why he's still here! Alfred is a fantastic dog with a big personality and plenty of manners. He already knows sit, shake, and beg, and he's always happy to show off his tricks for a snack or a little attention. Alfred also gets along great with other dogs!

His adorable blep, sweet nature, and lovable personality make him one-of-a-kind. Now all he needs is a family to call his own. Come meet Alfred and see if this tongue-out cutie is the missing piece in your home.

👅Alfred A474953 is a 2 year old, 58 pound Rottweiler mix. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.

🐱 Did you know? Every cat's nose print is unique!

Just like humans have fingerprints, every cat has a one-of-a-kind nose print!

If you look closely at your cat's nose, you'll see tiny bumps and ridges that create a pattern unique to them. No two cats have exactly the same nose print—not even siblings from the same litter!

While we don't use nose prints to identify cats the way we use microchips, it's a fun reminder that every cat is truly one of a kind. From their unique nose print to their quirky personalities, favorite sleeping spots, and special ways of asking for treats, there's no other cat quite like yours.

Take a close-up photo of your cat's nose and share it in the comments! We'd love to see those adorable one-of-a-kind snoots.

🏠 Bringing home a new cat? Give them time to adjust!

Bringing home a new cat is exciting, but remember: your new feline friend has just been taken from everything familiar. New sights, new smells, new people, and a new environment can feel overwhelming at first.

Many cats need time to settle in, and that's completely normal! Here are a few tips to help your new cat feel comfortable:

🐾 Start small. Set up a quiet room with food, water, a litter box, and a cozy place to hide and rest.

🐾 Let them move at their own pace. Some cats will explore immediately, while others may spend a few days hiding. Don't force interactions.

🐾 Keep a routine. Feeding, cleaning, and spending time with them on a consistent schedule helps build trust.

🐾 Give them space. Sit quietly nearby and let them approach you when they're ready.

🐾 Be patient. It can take days, weeks, or even months for a cat to fully adjust to a new home.

A helpful guideline is the 3-3-3 Rule:
🏠 First 3 days: Feeling overwhelmed and unsure.
❤️ First 3 weeks: Learning routines and becoming more comfortable.
🐱 First 3 months: Beginning to feel truly at home.

The best gift you can give a newly adopted cat isn't toys or treats—it's patience. Give them time, and you'll be rewarded with a lifelong friend.
