On May 1st, 2026, No Kings Portland/ 50501 Portland will be one of the > 50 local organizations participating in a rally and march for International Worker’s Day. Our call to action is “ NO WORK, NO SCHOOL AND NO SHOPPING”.

We are proud to be participating in this historical day with an impressive show of union & community solidarity!

About 2 weeks ago, on April 6th, a worker collapsed and died at Amazon’s Troutdale facility. Coworkers say they were told to keep working around his body.

A 46-year-old man died at Amazon’s PDX9 warehouse in Troutdale Oregon. While the 46-year old laid helplessly on the floor, workers described that conveyor belts still operating, packages still moving, and a workplace that, by their account, tried to work around a medical emergency instead of stopping for it.

This is abhorrent. It is time for worker’s to rise up. They don’t care about us and they dont care about you, clearly.

What is May Day? We keep getting asked this. Yes, its may poles and flowers, but its also American Labor History that they either dont want us not to know, or fail to tell the full story.

May Day around the world is the celebration of International Worker’s Day. A national holiday across Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa. We dont observe this on May 1st like the rest of the world, even though the events that unfolded happened right here in Chicago.

On May 1st we plan to observe this holiday like we used to, and have provided you with the history on why you should too! ✊

Do you have experience managing social media accounts, or simply just enjoy creating content and engaging with followers? If so, we’re still looking to add to our team!

We’re active across multiple platforms including: Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, Substack, Reddit, Discord or Buffer (or others for social media management) and if you enjoy any of these we’d love to have you as a contributing member of our team!

You’d be mostly responsible for monitoring engagement and coordinating as a team to strategize optimal approaches and following up with our followers. These are things that require a decent size team to manage across that many platforms and keep messaging consistent.
