October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, a time for government, industry and the public to work together to strengthen cybersecurity and reduce online risk.

OMES OK‑ISAC is proud to partner with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) to strengthen cybersecurity across Oklahoma. Through this collaboration, we share resources, threat intelligence and best practices that help organizations stay informed and better protect the systems they rely on every day. Our partnership ensures Oklahoma has access to national expertise while keeping the focus on empowering local agencies, communities and businesses to improve their cyber readiness.

Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility, and everyone has a role to play in protecting the systems, information and services we rely on every day.

A historic state office building is renewed for generations to come.

Originally constructed in 1938, the Jim Thorpe Memorial Office Building has undergone a transformative renovation that preserves its distinctive Art Deco character while bringing new life and functionality to this important part of the Capitol Complex. Named in 1961 for Oklahoma-born Olympic legend Jim Thorpe, this building represents more than a place to work – it’s a lasting piece of our state’s story.

This transformation was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the state Legislature, the Jim Thorpe Repair Expenditure Oversight Committee, QUAD Construction, Gardner Studio, Mass Architects and OMES Construction and Properties, whose work helped preserve this historic landmark for future generations.

This winter, we will welcome the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, State Election Board, Oklahoma Arts Council and Oklahoma Water Resources Board as tenants as they carry out their missions for Oklahomans.

💲 OKLAHOMA REVENUE: September GRF collections 22.6% above monthly estimate

General Revenue Fund collections in September totaled $924.2 million, which is $170.3 million, or 22.6%, above the monthly estimate. This total is also $154.7 million, or 20.1%, above collections from September 2025.

GRF collections for the first three months of fiscal year 2027 stand at $2 billion. This is $154.7 million, or 8.2%, above the year-to-date estimate and $67.2 million, or 3.4%, above collections from the same period in FY 2026.

📢 From OMES Director Mark Wood: "September's results reflect some of the timing factors we anticipated earlier in the fiscal year, with collections coming in well above both the monthly estimate and the same month last year. The first quarter of FY 2027 also finished ahead of both the year-to-date estimate and Q1 of the prior fiscal year. Looking at a longer period helps smooth out monthly fluctuations and gives us a clearer picture of underlying revenue performance as we move into the second quarter."

ℹ️ As state government’s main operating fund, the GRF is the key indicator of state government’s fiscal status and the predominant funding source for the annual appropriated state budget. GRF collections are revenues that remain for the appropriated state budget after rebates, refunds and other mandatory apportionments, and after sales and use taxes are remitted back to municipalities. In contrast, gross collections, reported by the state treasurer, are all revenues remitted to the Oklahoma Tax Commission.

In a joint effort with the Office of Management and Enterprise Services, Gov. J. Kevin Stitt has declared October 2026 as Cybersecurity Awareness Month for the State of Oklahoma.

📢 From State Chief Information Officer Dan Cronin: “As our country celebrates 250 years, we also have an opportunity to think about the digital foundation we are building for the future. The technology we rely on will continue to evolve, and so will the threats against it. Securing the next 250 years starts with the decisions we make today to strengthen our systems, protect our data and build a culture where cybersecurity is everyone’s responsibility.”

📢 From State Chief Information Security Officer Daniel Langley: "The strongest cyber defenses are built before an incident ever occurs. Every strong password, software update and reported scam helps reduce risk. When Oklahomans make these practices part of their everyday routines, those individual actions add up to a more resilient state."

Join us in congratulating the OMES Employees of the Month for August 2026: Macy Nunemaker and Stacey Williams! 👏

Recognized for her outstanding support across OMES, Macy Nunemaker exemplifies collaboration and initiative. Similarly, Stacey Williams is acknowledged for his exceptional dedication following the launch of the Treasury Modernization Project.

Here's what their colleagues had to say about their impact at OMES:

💯 “Macy was a key communications partner to Central Purchasing during the successful August launch of the statewide MyOK Staffing Portal. She worked closely with Central Purchasing to develop and execute a communications plan that helped agencies understand the new portal, what to expect and how to navigate the transition. Her collaboration, responsiveness and attention to detail helped Central Purchasing deliver a smooth and successful statewide rollout.

“She has also stepped up to support the Legislative team when needed, demonstrating her willingness to lend her expertise wherever it can have the greatest impact. She will continue that cross-functional support by partnering with Central Purchasing on communications for an upcoming implementation of new technology.

“Macy consistently demonstrates that effective communication is a team effort. She builds strong partnerships, understands the needs of the teams she supports and helps turn complex initiatives into clear, actionable information for employees and stakeholders.

“Her flexibility, professionalism and commitment to helping other teams succeed make her a valuable asset to OMES.”

🎯 “Since the project went live, Stacey has consistently worked from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, to support OMES and help ensure the project's continued success. His willingness to go above and beyond during this critical period demonstrates an exceptional level of dedication and commitment to the agency.

“Stacey's sustained effort and commitment to supporting OMES during this important transition make him deserving of recognition as Employee of the Month.”
