I had the pleasure of working again with the Sharks. This time, we have been working on Fair projects the past few months. The students made their own fabric design, made a skirt, and made a t-shirt and jewelry to match. One group down, two more to go! Thanks to the parents that share their time (and amazing kids), and to Nancy McChesney for inviting me to come and teach. Love this experience! Best part of my job!

Why shop at a Farmers Market?

Access to fresh, locally grown foods, for starters. That may be one of the best reasons, but there are many more. Farmers markets have fruits and vegetables at the peak of the growing season. This means produce is at its freshest and tastes the best. to read more go to the USDA website and search for the Top Reasons to shop at a Farmers Market. Be sure to visit our local Farmer's Market, Okmulgee Farmers Market

Cyclospora is a parasite that can cause illness. People may become sick after eating food or drinking water that has been contaminated. Cyclospora has sometimes been linked to fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs.
Help reduce your risk:
• Wash hands before preparing food.
• Rinse produce under running water.
• Scrub firm produce with a clean brush.
• Refrigerate cut produce within two hours.
• Do not use soap or bleach on produce.
Washing produce can help remove dirt and some germs, but it may not remove all Cyclospora. Cooking produce is the best way to destroy the parasite.
The most common symptom is frequent, watery diarrhea. Other symptoms may include stomach cramps, nausea, tiredness, loss of appetite, bloating, and weight loss. Contact a healthcare provider if you have symptoms.
