A huge THANK YOU to the Olalla & Gig Harbor community for supporting Olalla Elementary through your generous donations to Office Depot’s School Supply Drive program, in partnership with Round It Up America®! 💚🦉

Each quarter, community donations made through the program come directly back to our school and are divided among our classrooms.

This morning, every K–5 classroom teacher and specialist at Olalla Elementary received a $100 Office Depot shopping spree to purchase supplies for their students and classrooms!

Our teachers were all smiles as they stocked up on Expo markers, Flair pens, classroom supplies, and all sorts of other goodies. We may have left Office Depot just a little lighter on inventory this morning. 😊

We also want to give a special shout-out to the incredible team at the Gig Harbor Office Depot. They regularly go above and beyond for our staff — even opening early for us so our teachers can shop before the school day begins — and they are always welcoming, patient, and incredibly helpful.

With that level of service, it’s easy to understand why the Gig Harbor Office Depot has earned recognition as one of the company’s top-performing stores. Their support of our school and our community is something we genuinely appreciate.

Most importantly, thank you to the Olalla & Gig Harbor community. Your generosity directly supports our teachers and students, and we are incredibly grateful for your continued support of our Mighty Owls.

💚🦉 OWL UP!

For several years, Olalla families have asked for an on-site before- and after-school childcare option. We are excited to finally have Right At School available at Olalla this year.

Unfortunately, due to low enrollment, our Olalla program is at risk of being discontinued.

If before-school care, after-school care, or both would benefit your family, please consider registering your child today. Maintaining this service at Olalla depends on having enough families enrolled to sustain the program.

Right At School offers flexible enrollment options from 1–5 days per week, with care available as early as 6:00 a.m. and as late as 6:00 p.m.

If this is a service your family may use, now is the time to enroll and help keep before- and after-school care available at Olalla.

Registration information and pricing are included in the flyer.

🦉 Mark Your Calendars, Mighty Owls! 🦉

Thursday, August 27 is a big day at Olalla Elementary!

📱 Teacher Assignments Available
Beginning Thursday morning, families can log in to ParentSquare to view their child’s teacher assignment. ParentSquare is now our preferred way to share this information, so we will no longer post class lists or send individual assignment emails.

🏫 August Open House | 5:00–6:00 PM
Students and families are invited to:

Meet their teacher
Visit their classroom
Drop off school supplies before the first day of school — and save those backpacks from doing some serious heavy lifting!

While you’re here, stop by the Multi-Purpose Room to meet our PTA, before/after-school childcare program, and other community partners.

🎨 Chalk the Playground | 6:00–6:30 PM
Following Open House, we invite Olalla Owls past, present, and future to help us cover the playground with encouraging messages, colorful pictures, and words of inspiration for our students to discover on their first day of school.

Please keep all chalk artwork on horizontal playground and sidewalk surfaces and avoid chalking walls or buildings.

We can’t wait to welcome our Mighty Owls back! 💙🦉

This week, our Olalla staff felt incredibly seen, valued, and appreciated — and that is because of the amazing support from our Olalla PTA and the incredible families that make up our school community. ❤️🦉
From smoothies and tacos to boxed lunches, dirty sodas, desserts, thoughtful notes, decorations, donations, and countless acts of kindness… every detail reflected the love and appreciation our community has for the people who serve students each day.
At Olalla Elementary, we often talk about being leaders — and while we are incredibly proud that Olalla continues to lead in multiple academic achievement areas, what truly sets our school apart is the people. Simply put: no school has better families than Olalla. The generosity, positivity, encouragement, and partnership our staff experiences from this community is something truly special, and it does not go unnoticed.
Our staff works hard for kids every single day, and this week your kindness filled their buckets in a big way.
On behalf of the entire Olalla staff: thank you for making this year’s Staff Appreciation Week so memorable. The Mighty Owl community continues to prove that when schools and families work together, amazing things happen. 💙💛
