Kansas School for the Deaf To ensure that all students we serve achieve their full potential in a language-rich environment.

The Kansas School for the Deaf is a premier bilingual center-based educational placement option providing the highest quality of services, resources, and support to children ages 3-21 who are deaf/ hard of hearing, their families, their communities, and the professionals that serve them. KSD meets the criteria for FAPE and LRE as an educational option on the continuum of services. Kansas School for the Deaf also maintains an Outreach Team that is separate from our center-based educational placement option. Our Outreach Mission is to provide the highest quality of services, resources, and supports to children ages birth-21 who are deaf/ hard of hearing by collaborating with their families, their communities, and the professionals that serve them across the state of Kansas.

Exciting News! KSD Family ASL Classes Are Here!

The Kansas School for the Deaf is offering in-person Family ASL classes for families who want to learn American Sign Language (ASL) and strengthen communication at home.

Class Details:

Dates: Thursdays, October 22 – November 19, 2026
Time: 5:00–6:00 PM
Location: In person at KSD (not on Zoom)
Beginner level — no prior ASL experience needed
Limited Seating: Only 15 seats available!

These classes are intended for families with students at KSD or families working locally with a KSD Outreach staff member.

¡Noticias emocionantes! ¡Llegan las clases de ASL para familias en la KSD!

La Escuela para Sordos de Kansas (KSD, por sus siglas en inglés) ofrece clases presenciales de Lengua de Señas Americana (ASL) para familias que desean aprender este idioma y fortalecer la comunicación en el hogar.

Detalles de las clases:

Fechas: Jueves, del 22 de octubre al 19 de noviembre de 2026
Horario: 5:00–6:00 p. m.
Lugar: Presencial en la KSD (no a través de Zoom)
Nivel principiante: no se requiere experiencia previa en ASL
Cupo limitado: ¡Solo hay 15 plazas disponibles!

Estas clases están dirigidas a familias con estudiantes en la KSD o a familias que trabajan localmente con un miembro del personal de extensión (Outreach) de la KSD. El proceso de inscripción incluye una pregunta de selección.
