We are proud to recognize Det. Sgt. Williams for being honored at the Police Commissioners Association of Connecticut Awards Dinner.
On February 5, 2025, Old Saybrook Police Officers responded to Vachon Buick GMC, located at 225 Middlesex Turnpike, for the report of two previously stolen motor vehicles. Det. Sgt. Williams led the investigation. Through collaborative work with numerous law enforcement partners and the ex*****on of multiple technological search and seizure warrants, it was determined that this group was responsible for 7 motor vehicle thefts or attempted thefts within the State of Connecticut. These incidents occurred between March of 2024 and May of 2025, with a combined value exceeding $662,000.00 .
As a result of this investigation, the Old Saybrook Police Department was contacted by 8 police departments in New Jersey and 3 police departments in New York reporting nearly identical thefts. In total, investigators have identified 20 vehicles that were stolen or targeted by this group across three states, with a combined value exceeding $2,400,000.00. Evidence developed by Old Saybrook detectives had directly assisted partner agencies in New York and New Jersey with arrests in their jurisdictions.
