🚨 SCAM ALERT: LAW ENFORCEMENT WILL NEVER REQUIRE BITCOIN PAYMENTS OR REQUEST MONEY TO AVOID ARREST! 🚨
⚠️ PLEASE SHARE — HELP PREVENT SOMEONE FROM BECOMING A VICTIM!
Scammers are continuing to impersonate law enforcement officers and court officials, claiming that individuals have outstanding arrest warrants, often for failing to appear for federal jury duty.
These criminals use fear and threats of immediate arrest to convince victims to send money through prepaid gift cards, electronic transfers, or Bitcoin kiosks commonly found in convenience stores and other retail locations.
The image accompanying this post is an example of a FAKE document designed to make these payment demands appear legitimate. Scammers may use official-looking seals, government terminology, and detailed payment instructions to deceive their victims.
🛑 KNOW THE FACTS:
✅ Law enforcement agencies will NEVER call and demand payment through Bitcoin, gift cards, or prepaid cards to avoid arrest.
✅ Legitimate warrants cannot be dismissed simply by depositing money into a cryptocurrency kiosk.
✅ Scammers may impersonate actual deputies, use real officers’ names, or make their phone numbers appear to belong to a law enforcement agency.
✅ Never provide personal information, financial information, or payment details to an unsolicited caller.
✅ If someone calls threatening arrest unless you immediately make a payment, HANG UP!
📞 REPORT SUSPICIOUS CALLS
The Oldham County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about these scams. Anyone receiving such a call should report it to Oldham County Dispatch at (502) 222-0111.
REMEMBER: A badge, official-looking document, or threatening phone call does not make a payment demand legitimate.
PLEASE SHARE THIS WARNING, particularly with elderly family members, friends, and neighbors who may be targeted by these criminals.
