πŸš¨πŸš’πŸš‘ Bridging The Gap πŸš‘πŸš’πŸš¨

Thanks to the DeSoto County Economic Development Council and Desoto County Schools Workforce Development for inviting us to participate in their Bridging The Gap event.

The 2-day event invited sophomores from all over Desoto County to come out and have a hands-on experience at the Landers Center. Students were given the opportunity to learn about many different trades including public safety, industry, automotive, and construction to name a few.

We enjoyed telling students about what the fire service has to offer and what we do. Thanks again for inviting us!

πŸš¨πŸš’πŸš‘ Equestrian Rescue πŸš‘πŸš’πŸš¨

In the fire service, we never know what kind of emergency might come our way. From structure fires, to vehicle accidents, hazardous materials, etc - we try to train for whatever might come our way to keep the citizens of Olive Branch and ourselves as safe as possible.

But… every once in a while, something comes up that we never really train for. That’s when we have to be creative and come up with a solution. This afternoon on Curbo Ln. was one of those times.

This horse found itself stuck in some thick mud near a pond. With no way to get it out, the owners reached out to the OBFD.

B-Shift Engine 1, Engine 2, Truck 2, and Battalion 1 were able to free the horse and add β€œEquestrian Rescueβ€πŸ΄ to our list of available services!

Besides needing a bath, the horse was in great shape and healthy!

Thanks so much for trusting us to help!

πŸš¨πŸš’πŸš‘ Fire Prevention Week 2026 πŸš‘πŸš’πŸš¨

The Olive Branch Fire Department is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association to promote this year’s Fire Prevention Week, October 4-10.

This year's theme is "Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower." Help us spread the word that everyday actions and smart decisions can help prevent fires caused by lithium-ion batteries, overheated chargers, and damaged or undersized cords.

Use your charging superpower by making smart choices every time you plug in!

Check out these safety tips below from the NFPA!

For more information about how to safely use your chargers, checklists on what to do or not to do, and activities for your family, visit www.fpw.org.

Thanks for helping us keep you and your family as safe as possible!

At every fire recruit graduation from the Mississippi Fire Academy, a special guest speaker is chosen to deliver a speech to graduating recruits, fire academy staff, friends, and family members.

This speaker could be anyone including an author, celebrity, politician, fire officer, or public servant for example.

At this week's most recent graduation of Class 223, our own Chief Clark was given this honorable distinction.

Chief Clark addressed the graduates and those in attendance with words of encouragement, inspiration, and congratulations including what to expect in their future as a firefighter, continuing their fire education, the importance of training, trusting their fellow firefighters, and above all - how to always be a good person worthy of respect.

Congratulations to the graduating class of 223 and thanks Chief Clark for your leadership and inspiring words. πŸš¨πŸš’πŸš‘

πŸš¨πŸš’πŸš‘ Graduation Announcement πŸš‘πŸš’πŸš¨

Chief Clark, Deputy Chief Hogan, Fire Command Staff, and all of us at the Olive Branch Fire Department would like to congratulate Firefighter Jordan Green on his recent graduation from the Basic Firefighter Class 223 at the Mississippi State Fire Academy in Pearl, MS.

FF Green was one of 29 firefighters from around the state to complete and graduate from the intensive 7-week class.

During the class, firefighters learned the basic techniques of the fire service including firefighting, vehicle extrication, hazardous materials, confined space, radio communications, rope rescue, and physical fitness to name a few.

In addition to hands-on instruction, firefighters also spent time in the classroom and took daily tests over information learned about several different aspects of the fire service.

Upon his return to his regular duty schedule, FF Green will be assigned to Station 3 on A-Shift.

Congratulations again from all of us at the Olive Branch Fire Department and thank you for representing us and yourself so well!
