The Oliver Springs Police Department understands that the significant law-enforcement presence on Bennett Road may have caused concern among residents and members of the community.

Officers responded to the area following a report of a potentially serious incident. A thorough response was conducted, and it was determined that the residents were unharmed. Preliminary information indicates that this was a “swatting” call—a deliberately false report intended to generate an emergency law-enforcement response.

The investigation remains active and is being conducted by the Oliver Springs Police Department in partnership with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Incidents of this nature are taken seriously because they place the public and emergency responders at unnecessary risk and divert critical resources.

Because the investigation is ongoing, no additional details are available at this time.
