On 10-13-26 at 10:10PM, Nicholas A. Fessel (39), of Olney, was arrested on a Wayne County Warrant for Failure to Appear at the 700 block of W. Main St.

On 10-15-26 at 2:59PM, Lindsey A. Green (24), of Olney, was arrested on a Richland County Warrant for Failure to Appear at the 100 block of N. Camp.

On 10-15-26 at 6:30PM, Tierra L. Norris (28), of Coeur D Alene, ID, was arrested for DUI, Illegal Transportation or Possession of Alcohol, Improper Backing & Possession of Cannabis in Motor Vehicle following a traffic stop at Butler & West.

🚨 **BURN BAN LIFTED — RICHLAND & LAWRENCE COUNTIES, IL** 🚨

The burn ban for Richland and Lawrence Counties is officially lifted, effective immediately.

Residents may resume outdoor burning in accordance with all applicable local ordinances and fire safety regulations.

🔥 Please continue to burn responsibly:

* Check weather conditions and wind speeds before burning.
* Keep fires attended at all times.
* Keep water or other fire-extinguishing equipment nearby.
* Fully extinguish fires before leaving the area.
* Never burn when conditions could allow a fire to spread uncontrollably.

We appreciate the public’s cooperation and understanding during the burn ban. Your help in preventing fires protects our residents, property, and communities.

On 10-5-26 at 9:32PM, Mick J. Hunter (37), of Olney, was arrested for Violation of Order of Protection following an investigation at the 2100 block of Mimosa Dr.

On 10-4-26 at 6:24PM, Cole H. Long (33), of Olney, was arrested for DUI & Improper Turn at Intersection following a traffic stop at Lafayette & West Ave.

On 10-8-26 at 3:41AM, Stephanie D. Albright (46), Olney, was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance following a traffic stop at Cherry & Camp.

On 10-8-26 at 7:19PM, Ronnie D. Keebler (39), of Olney, was arrested on a Jasper County Warrant for Criminal Trespass at the 200 block of W. Pine St.

🚨 JOINT STATEMENT – BURN BAN 🚨
Richland County & Lawrence County, Illinois

**EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY**

The Fire Chiefs of Richland County and Lawrence County are issuing a BURN BAN effective immediately due to extremely dry conditions and a significant increase in field, brush, and trash fires.

**ALL OUTDOOR BURNING IS PROHIBITED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.**

This prohibition includes, but is not limited to:

• Field and agricultural burning
• Brush and leaf piles
• Trash and debris burning
• Recreational/open burning
• Any other outdoor burning that could result in an uncontrolled fire

Current conditions are allowing fires to spread rapidly and unpredictably. Recent fires have placed an increased demand on local fire departments and created an unnecessary risk to homes, farms, crops, property, and firefighters.

The Fire Chiefs strongly urge all residents to take this Burn Ban seriously and refrain from any outdoor burning until the ban has been officially lifted.

Do not assume conditions are safe because an area appears calm. Dry vegetation can allow fire to spread quickly, particularly with wind.

The Burn Ban will remain in effect until conditions improve and the Fire Chiefs determine that outdoor burning can safely resume.

Residents are asked to cooperate fully with this temporary restriction. Your cooperation can prevent a small fire from becoming a major incident.
This includes the following fire districts:

On 9-30-26 at 2:07PM, Melanie B. Rains (58), of Sailor Springs, was arrested for DUI, Operation of Uninsured Motor Vehicle & Failure to Yield-Private Drive following a traffic stop at Hwy. 50 & Rt. 130.
