📣 Community of Practice Special Session! Join TAT Lab to talk about conferences, professional organizations, and what they can bring to a teaching artist’s practice.

đź“… Wednesday, Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026 5-6pm
Zoom/online | Free
Register: https://tinyurl.com/FY27CoPNov4

TAT Lab faculty Carina A. del Rosario and Tina LaPadula recently attended the International Teaching Artist Collaborative (ITAC) conference in Belgium. They’ll share about their experience, what it’s like connecting with teaching artists from around the world, and what they brought home to their own practice.

We’ll also explore: How can teaching artists fund conference attendance? What if travel isn’t possible? And what other professional organizations and conferences are out there for teaching artists across disciplines?

Open to teaching artists, arts and cultural educators throughout Washington State, in all creative disciplines.

Image ID: Community of Practice special session announcement. Text on teal paintstreak reads “From Global to Local: Expanding Your Community of Practice via conferences & professional organizations,” then below reads “Wednesday, November 4, 5-6 PM, online and free.” In small text below, “Open to teaching artists and cultural educators throughout Washington State in all creative disciplines” above the TAT Lab logo.

🪶Meet Tommy Kammerer, author of “The Sparrow and the Boy”. Tommy's poetry is featured in Words, Woods, and Wellness, a project of Washington State Poet Laureate Derek Sheffield.

Tommy Kammerer is a high school senior from Burlington, Washington. He discovered an interest in writing his junior year when taking a creative writing class, where he submitted this poem for an assignment with no thought of it being chosen. Aside from school, he enjoys playing video games, cooking, and spending time with his friends, family, and pets.

👉🏽Read Tommy's poem: https://www.terrain.org/2026/poetry/tommy-kammerer/

Words, Woods, and Wellness is accepting submissions on a rolling basis until December 31, 2026 – and we recommend submitting early!
