Washington Fire Mechanics Washington Fire Mechanics is a section of the Washington Fire Chiefs Association. "The Finest Supporting The Bravest” Currently, the F.A.E.D.

History

The first Fire Apparatus and Equipment Workshop was held in Yakima, Washington in October, 1980. It was evident by the standing-room-only gathering at this inaugural event that the Fire Service of Washington State was sincerely concerned about the status of its apparatus and desired to take an active roll in repair and maintenance. Through the years, the elected board and committee members have strived to improve and expand a fire apparatus program to meet this need. yearly workshop offers more than 25 courses in an extensive 5-day, 4-evening schedule. Along with this, we have a Vendors and Banquet night. The scope of the program is a wide selection of courses in most major areas of maintenance and repair based on the philosophy that preventative maintenance insures reliability, minimizes down time and is cost effective.

Sometimes you need to stop to maintain the equipment, that you use to maintain your fleet. Mobile column lifts were getting difficult to move around. Looks like the wheels and axle pins could use a little attention.

When the call comes in, our crews need to know their apparatus is ready to go. That doesn’t happen by accident.

This is a critical role behind the scenes. Our Fleet Facility works every day to keep MVFR’s emergency apparatus on the road, and our EVTs are an important part of that mission.

ENTRY LEVEL: $86,022
EVT I: $98,438
EVT II: $102,375
EVT III: $106,470

If you have the skills, experience and pride in keeping emergency vehicles ready for the next call, we’d like to hear from you.
