🇺🇸 **Honoring Our Veterans at Historic Prospect Hill Cemetery**
On Saturday, October 10, volunteers from the Marine Corps League-Miguel Kieth Detachment 609, along with Gold Star family members, Survivor Outreach Services volunteers, and Prospect Hill supporters, came together to install 17 military-issued grave markers at historic Prospect Hill Cemetery in Omaha.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make this work possible!
Saturday's efforts represent another significant milestone in a project that has been underway for more than five years.
What began as an effort to identify and document the veterans buried at Prospect Hill grew into an extensive research and preservation initiative. Historical records were reconciled, military service was verified, burial locations were identified, and applications were submitted to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for government-issued grave markers.
Of the 359 known veterans resting at Prospect Hill Cemetery, many had graves that were unmarked or marked by stones that had become illegible.
Our progress to date:

🇺🇸 3 additional markers on-site, scheduled for installation October 21
🇺🇸 2 markers in production
🇺🇸 2 applications pending
🇺🇸 4 cases requiring additional historical research
We are especially grateful to the volunteers who have contributed countless hours to researching military records, preparing applications, locating graves, and installing markers.

We will be installing three additional military-issued grave markers at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Depending on volunteer turnout, we also hope to reset and preserve existing monuments marking veterans' graves that have become sunken, fallen, or otherwise require attention.
Volunteers are welcome, and there's always meaningful work to be done!
