Late-night history walks in Beatrice hit different.
If you’ve ever driven past 5th and High Street at night, you’ve probably marveled at this stunning piece of local architecture. This is Christ Church Episcopal, one of the most beautiful and enduring landmarks in Beatrice!
Here is a quick look into its history:
• The Architecture: It was designed in the classic Gothic Revival style by the architectural firm Mendelsson & Laurie. Check out that heavy stone masonry, the gorgeous arched windows, and the prominent bell tower standing tall against the night sky!
• When it was built: The cornerstone of this handsome stone structure was laid in 1889, and it officially opened its doors for services on Easter Day in 1890.
• Fun Fact: In 1892, the church installed an excellent pipe organ, which holds the title of being the very first pipe organ in Beatrice!
• Historic Status: Recognizing its incredible architectural and community value, the property was officially added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 29, 1999.
We are so lucky to have such deeply rooted history preserved right here in our backyard. 🪨✨
