Ponca Hills Volunteer Fire Department

The Ponca Hills Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1964. We provide fire and emergency medical service to our community.

The Ponca Hills area is located north of Omaha, in the northeast corner of Douglas County, Nebraska.

The Ponca Hills VFD year 2026 banquet is in the books. After a delicious meal served by Eddie’s Catering, we handed out the following awards:
50 years of service -Clare Duda
15 years of service - Jason Tomich
10 years of service - Adam Steinspring
5 years of service - Scott Bowen, Ruth Wood and Jake Hubschman
Rookie of the year - Evan Davis
EMS Responder of the year - Randy Woosley
Firefighter of the year - Ed Cheloha

The Ponca Hills Auxiliary also issued several service awards, most notably - Barb O’Keefe and Noreen Harpster for 30 years of service.

Barb O’keefe also received recognition from NEMSA President Sandy Lewis for her dedication and service with the Yellow Ribbon Su***de Prevention Program!

There is an elite group among the Ponca Hills Firefighters; they all wear a black leather jacket. Six of that group are founding members, who started the fire department in 1964. Three of those founding members are still on the active roster. Three other members of the group earned their jackets for achieving 50 years of service. Last night, Firefighter Clare Duda became the fourth member to receive his leather jacket. Congratulations Clare for your 50 years of service to the Ponca Hills Community!
