On Thursday, May 7th, CASA for Douglas County proudly welcomed 4 new Volunteer Advocates at our Swearing-In Ceremony. We were honored to have Judge Amy N. Schuchman administer the oath and share powerful words about the importance of advocacy for children, “So many people in these children's lives are temporary, but they need someone consistent. As a judge, I rely on the voice of the CASA Volunteers to communicate so that the things that are important to the kids get heard.” Thank you to the families and supporters who joined us, to our CASA Board of Directors, leadership, and staff—including trainer Katelyn Wilee—and especially to our newly sworn-in Volunteer Advocates for stepping forward to serve children in our community!

We’re feeling the love for our graduating youth! A huge thank you to the Ticket to Dream Foundation for their generous donation to CASA teens for their annual Cards for Grads program. This incredible campaign brings together organizations, corporations, and community groups to celebrate youth who are in foster care and also graduating with handwritten notes of encouragement and gift cards. Thanks to a partnership with Famous Footwear, CASA for Douglas County will receive 15 congratulatory cards—each paired with a Starbucks gift card—giving our grads a chance to treat themselves and feel celebrated on their big day. We’re so grateful to be part of a community that shows up for youth in meaningful ways.
