South High School

This week (6/1–6/3), we welcomed more than 250 members of the Class of 2030 to South High for our Jumpstart program. Students spent their time learning their way around the building, participating in team-building activities, exploring pathways and electives, and finishing the week with a spirited pep rally.

Congratulations to South High boys soccer players 𝐃𝐲𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐧, 𝐑𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐊𝐮𝐛𝐢𝐚𝐤, and 𝐇𝐮𝐠𝐨 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐳 on being named to the Lincoln Journal Star Super-State First Team.

Dylan Holden was also selected as the LJS Player of the Year, recognizing him as the top player in the state.

Congratulations to South High boys soccer players 𝐃𝐲𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐧 and 𝐑𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐊𝐮𝐛𝐢𝐚𝐤 on being named to the Omaha World-Herald's First Team All-Nebraska Soccer Team.

This marks the second year in a row both players have earned this prestigious honor. Dylan Holden was also selected as the OWH First Team Captain, recognizing him as Nebraska's Player of the Year.

Also earning recognition were 𝐇𝐮𝐠𝐨 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐳, who was named to the All-Nebraska Second Team, and 𝐒𝐢𝐢𝐝𝐢 𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐧, who was named to the All-Metro Second Team.

Today (5/22), on the last staff day of the year, we held our annual staff awards breakfast. During the breakfast, we recognized exemplary staff members and initiatives that help elevate South High.

We also honored retirees and celebrated milestone years for teachers and staff members. This year’s retirees are Shawn Hoschar, Mary Espinosa, and Angie Rodenbarger.
