Hands-Only CPR has been shown to be as effective as conventional CPR during the first few minutes of cardiac arrest for teens and adults who suddenly collapse at home, work, or in public.
Hands-Only CPR has two simple steps:
1οΈβ£ Call 911 immediately if you see a teen or adult suddenly collapse.
2οΈβ£ Push hard and fast in the center of the chest at a rate of 100 to 120 compressions per minute.
CPR saves lives! By learning CPR, knowing where AEDs are located, and being prepared to act, you can help make our community safer for everyone.

Today, the Omaha Fire Department Public Education Team was honored to take part in multiple Memorial Day events across the metro.
We proudly remembered the 60 Omaha firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting our city and its citizens during the ceremony at the Omaha Firefighters Memorial Monument at Riverfront Park, followed by celebrations at Memorial Park.
Today, we also honor all military members and public safety servants who gave their lives in service to our nation and community. We will never forget their sacrifice. πΊπΈπ

Today was paws-itively awesome at Millard STEAM Day at Wheeler Elementary! πΎππ₯
OFD Facility Dog Mochi teamed up with OFD Arson Detection K9 Delta to help teach more than 100 kindergarteners all about fire safety! From learning how to stay safe at home to meeting our favorite four-legged firefighters, the kids got hands-on fire safety education while having tons of fun.
Students also got an up-close look at OFD Public Education Engine 15 and met FAE Michael Davenport! π The smiles were big, the tails were wagging, and the future fire safety experts of Omaha learned some very important lessons today.
Big thanks to Wheeler Elementary for having us out for such a fun and educational day! β€οΈπΆ

With the severe storms moving through our area over the last several days, the Omaha Fire Department wants to remind everyone to stay weather aware and prioritize safety during dangerous conditions. Please avoid flooded streets, stay indoors during severe weather warnings, and never underestimate the power of fast-moving storms.
We also want to extend a special THANK YOU to the Omaha citizen who captured and shared this incredible photo of our crews on a rooftop helping keep residents safe during the storm. Your support and partnership with our community mean everything to us. β€οΈπ
Our firefighters and first responders remain committed to protecting lives and property β no matter the conditions.

After the recent storms across our area and with more possible tonight, this is a great time to review some severe weather preparedness reminders βοΈ
A few simple ways to prepare:
β’ Charge phones and portable batteries.
β’ Enable weather alerts.
β’ Secure loose outdoor items when storms are possible.
β’ Keep flashlights and extra batteries nearby.
Itβs also a good time to review your familyβs storm plan:
β’ Know where your safe place is at home, work, or school.
β’ Make sure everyone in your household knows where to go.
β’ Practice getting to your shelter area quickly.
β’ If possible, keep your shelter stocked with essentials like water, medications, flashlights, batteries, sturdy shoes, and pet supplies.
β’ Make sure pets have updated ID tags and microchip information in case they become separated during severe weather.
β’ If you lose power and choose to use a portable generator, never operate it indoors or in enclosed spaces.
Continue monitoring local weather updates throughout the day and stay weather aware this evening.
