2013 Youth Mart Drive - Donations Always Accepted and Needed! 10/25/2013

The Youth Mart Donation Drive may have come and gone last weekend, but donations are still being accepted.

Omaha Home for Boys Branching Out Program Manager Jeff Smith said they received roughly 50 donations from throughout the community last Saturday and Sunday, but items are still needed.

The Youth Mart is a collaborative effort to provide necessary items to former foster youth, ages 16 to 24, including young men and women who are part of the Home's Jacobs' Place and Branching Out programs.

"It was a great turn out!" Jeff said. "We had nearly 50 private donors contribute to the effort. We still need dressers, microwaves and couches, and any other small household items - cups, silverware etc. - would also be helpful."

Jeff said Friday morning pickup is available for pickup. And in the future, every Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., people can drop off donations at the maintenance garage just east of the Wurdeman Building on the Omaha Home for Boys campus at 52nd and Ames.

"This will be an ongoing event," Jeff said. "The best way to coordinate a drop off is call me, and set up a time (within the given time frame Thursday 8-5pm) and we will make sure staff is waiting."
