Mosquitoes are more than just a summertime nuisance. They can spread diseases that impact public health. During National Mosquito Control Awareness Week, take a few minutes to tip, toss, and drain standing water around your home.

This week, members of our Epidemiology and Preparedness, and STI Control and Prevention teams are attending the 75th Anniversary Conference of the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists. CSTE provides a unique opportunity for public health professionals from across the country to collaborate, share best practices, learn about emerging public health threats, and strengthen the partnerships that help keep our communities healthy and safe. Investing in professional development and national collaboration ensures our team remains at the forefront of infectious disease surveillance, epidemiology, and emergency preparedness.

Big Smiles and Big Dreams!🏐
We teamed up with the Sarpy/Cass Health Department and the Omaha Supernovas to host an amazing youth volleyball camp!
At the Douglas County Health Department, we care about keeping our community happy and healthy. This camp was all about:
Moving More: Staying active keeps our bodies and minds strong!
Belonging: Making new friends and feeling like part of a team.
People First: Supporting our local kids and helping them grow.
Thank you to the Supernovas for teaching these future stars how to play hard and have fun!

🌟 Big News! Our Health Vending Machines are an Award-Winning Idea! 🌟
We have some amazing news to share! The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) just named our Health Resource Vending Machines a "Promising Practice." That means they think our idea is a great example for the whole country! 🎉
These machines are open 24/7 to give our community members free, everyday health supplies when they need them most.
This big win happened because of a lot of hard work:
🤝Amazing Teamwork: Our prevention specialists and health educators have worked tirelessly with local partners to set up these machines.
📦Keeping Shelves Full: Our team makes sure the machines stay stocked with helpful items like health test kits, period products, and first-aid supplies.
❤️Helping Everyone: We are meeting people right where they are, making it easy and private to stay healthy.
A huge thank you to our hardworking staff and our wonderful community partners. Together, we are making Omaha a healthier place to live! ❤️
