As we look ahead to next year’s Conversations for Change, we’re taking a trip down memory lane.

Over the years, we’ve had the opportunity to welcome incredible speakers to Omaha, including Kal Penn, Bob the Drag Queen, Storm Reid, and Gaby Natale.

Each speaker has brought their own experiences and unique perspectives to the stage, creating meaningful conversations around identity, inclusion, belonging, and what it takes to build stronger communities.

Different stories. Different perspectives. Conversations that continue long after the event ends.

We’re grateful for every speaker who has helped shape Conversations for Change over the years, and we can’t wait to continue that legacy with Connie Walker in 2027.

What is IncluCity?

IncluCity is more than a weekend retreat. It’s a space where young people come together to learn, connect, challenge themselves, and grow.

The program brings together up to seventy five 14 -19 year olds from Nebraska, South Dakota, and Iowa for meaningful conversations about identity, bias, prejudice, discrimination, and the experiences that shape how we see one another.

Throughout the weekend, participants learn how to recognize and challenge stereotypes, navigate conflict, become stronger allies, and build relationships across differences.

Most importantly, IncluCity gives young people a safe and respectful space to ask questions, share their experiences, listen to others, and discover how they can help create more inclusive communities.

Leadership, community, and a little time outdoors.

Our Executive Director, Cammy, recently participated in the Leadership Council Bluffs retreat at Hitchcock Nature Center.

During a lunch break, she had the opportunity to walk the trails and learn more about the history of the space, including the role community advocacy played in helping preserve it for future generations.

That story connects perfectly with the purpose of Leadership Council Bluffs: helping emerging and established leaders better understand the issues, organizations, and people shaping Council Bluffs and Southwest Iowa.

Strong communities don’t happen by accident. They’re shaped by people who get involved, build connections, and advocate for the places they call home.

We’re excited to announce our 2027 Conversations for Change speaker: Connie Walker!

A Pulitzer Prize and Peabody Award-winning Indigenous investigative journalist and host, Connie Walker is known for powerful storytelling that explores identity, justice, systemic inequities, and the difficult truths that shape our communities. Her acclaimed podcasts include Stolen and Missing & Murdered: Finding Cleo.

The Jane H. & Rabbi Sidney H. Brooks Conversations for Change Series brings thought leaders to Omaha to explore how we can confront prejudice, bigotry, and discrimination while building stronger communities.

The series honors Jane and Rabbi Sidney Brooks, whose lifelong advocacy advanced civil rights, education, inclusion, and interfaith understanding.

We can’t wait to welcome Connie to Omaha and continue this important conversation together. More details coming soon!

What a day!

The 2026 Youth Impact Summit was full of energy, connection, learning, and growth. We were excited to welcome a sold-out crowd of 250 young people from schools and youth organizations across our community.

Students joined us from Youth 360, Girls Inc., Omaha Public Schools, Duchesne, Marian, Mercy, Creighton Prep, CUES, Westside High School, Iowa School for the Deaf, and several other area schools.

A little behind-the-scenes look at the work happening ahead of the 2026 Youth Impact Summit.

Our Youth Summit Advisory Committee came together for their Teen Promotion Vendor Orientation as they continue preparing for this year’s summit.

This group of young leaders has been helping shape the event from the ground up, guiding the themes, conversations, and overall direction of the summit to make sure it reflects the voices and experiences of youth in our community.

There’s a lot happening behind the scenes, and we can’t wait to see it all come together!

We had the opportunity to attend Habitat for Humanity of Omaha’s 20th Annual Brew Haha!

Twenty years of bringing people together, discovering new favorites, and supporting a bigger cause. With more than 80 breweries, wineries, distilleries, and local eateries, there was certainly no shortage of things to try.

But what makes Brew Haha special is what happens beyond the event. Every ticket helps support Habitat Omaha’s work to expand access to affordable homeownership and keep local homes in local hands.

It was a great night to raise a glass, connect with the community, and celebrate 20 years of impact.

Every year, more than 200 volunteers give their time, talent, and energy to help make the work of Inclusive Communities possible.

Some help with a mailing or filing project. Others facilitate conversations, support programs, or spend 4–6 days helping lead a residential youth camp.

There’s no one way to volunteer, but every contribution matters.
