Thank you to the Children's & Youth Ministries group from First Lutheran Church-ELCA for joining us to learn about refugee communities in Nebraska and Iowa and for creating welcome cards and posters for newly arriving families. Their thoughtful messages will help new neighbors feel at home from day one.

We were proud to be a presenter with McGrath North Mullin & Kratz and the Urban League of Nebraska, and join the conversation around this year's theme, Tech & Trust. Thank you to the speakers, attendees, partners, and sponsors who made the event possible.

Shout-out to CBRE, HUB International, Bizco Technologies, Boyd Jones Construction, and Frankel for your support!

Our Refugee Services team recently attended "In Limbo: Coalition for Ukrainian Refugees in the USA," hosted by OREL Alliance Omaha.

The event brought together employers, community leaders, elected officials, and advocates to discuss how we can best support Ukrainians rebuilding their lives in Nebraska. We heard powerful insights about the positive impact Ukrainian refugees are having on local businesses and communities, along with conversations focused on stability, collaboration, and support.

We're grateful for opportunities to learn, connect, and strengthen support for the individuals and families we serve.

LFS President & CEO Chris Tonniges will be part of Nebraska Appleseed's upcoming Healthcare Town Hall discussing the impact of Medicaid work requirements in Nebraska.

This event is an opportunity to learn, share experiences, and be part of an important conversation about access to care in our communities.

Please see the event details below and register if you'd like to attend.

Please join us on November 9 in Omaha for a Health Care Town Hall to:

💬Share your concerns about Nebraska’s hasty early implementation – and hear from your neighbors and providers who are also navigating these changes;
📝Get the most up-to-date information on the impact of new Medicaid; and the work requirements
🍎Enjoy light refreshments!

‼️Many Nebraskans are facing challenges accessing health care, especially after new Medicaid expansion work requirements went into effect this year. Right now, more than 1,000 Nebraskans are without Medicaid.

Even more Nebraskans have been deterred from applying or renewing coverage because of:
❌Massive confusion
❌Lack of clear communication
❌Long call wait times

Today is World Mental Health Day. This year's theme is "Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change."

Being heard can make a powerful difference. When people feel safe sharing their experiences, we build understanding, reduce stigma, and create better pathways to care.

If you need support, know that your voice matters and you don't have to face challenges alone. LFS is here for you with a wide range of mental health services, including therapy, substance use treatment, crisis intervention, medication management, and more.

Help is here, and we are ready to listen. https://www.onelfs.org/get-help/
