Today (Friday, October 16) is an important voter registration deadline. See more from the Douglas County Election Commission.

TODAY (Friday, October 16) is the deadline to register to vote or update registration information for the 2026 Statewide General Election using the following methods:
- online (prior to midnight)
- by U.S. Postal mail (postmarked today)
- deposited in an official ballot drop box (5 PM)
- at Omaha Public Library locations (5 PM)
- at DMV (while obtaining/updating your ID)
- via deputy registrar (6 PM)
- delivered to our office by someone other than the person registering (5 PM)

If voters miss today's deadline, they can still register in person at our office until 6 PM on Friday, October 23, 2026.

Tonight (Wednesday, September 16) at 6:05 PM is the joint public hearing required for certain political subdivisions in Douglas County.

It will be held in the Legislative Chamber (second floor) of the Omaha-Douglas Civic Center | 1819 Farnam St. | Omaha, NE 68183. Free parking will be available in the public parking garage at 1910 Harney St. Attendees will be asked to enter the building through the Farnam Street entrance (in between 18th & 19th Streets).
