Teacher appreciation week should be celebrated every day. We have a national teacher shortage. Something has never added up with this profession— and although not enough, words of affirmation and advocacy go a long ways.

My parents made the decisions to stay in this country because my kindergarten teacher, asked them to keep me in school because I was making “great progress” and was quickly advancing in my English. I stand where I am because of the educators that believed in me— thank you.

Thank you to all the teachers, educators and everyone who makes teaching possible. I wish you the best—always. ✨

La Semana de Agradecimiento a los Maestros debería celebrarse todos los días. Enfrentamos una escasez nacional de maestros. Hay algo en esta profesión que nunca he terminado de entender; nuestros maestros se merecen mas. Aunque no sean suficientes por sí solas, las palabras de reconocimiento y el apoyo incondicional marcan una gran diferencia en sus vidas.

Mis padres tomaron la decisión de quedarse en este país porque mi maestra de kinder les pidió que me mantuvieran en la escuela, ya que estaba logrando un «gran progreso» y avanzaba rápidamente en el dominio del inglés. Estoy donde estoy hoy gracias a los educadores que creyeron en mí. ¡Gracias!

Gracias a todos los maestros, educadores y a cada persona que hace posible la labor de enseñar. Les deseo lo mejor, siempre. ✨

The HACE (Hispanic Academic Challengers of Excellence) Awards, is one of my favorite OPS initiatives. Over 511 OPS seniors received academic excellence recognition for achieving a GPA of 3.0 or above. CONGRATS! ✨ Los Premios HACE (Hispanic Academic Challengers of Excellence) son una de mis iniciativas favoritas de OPS. Más de 511 estudiantes de último año de las OPS recibieron un reconocimiento a la excelencia académica por haber obtenido un promedio de calificaciones (GPA) de 3.0 o superior. FELICIDADES!

I’m very excited to share that I will be hosting a youth-focused townhall on April 28th! I would like to better understand their experience at OPS. Please help me share this with everyone, especially middle and high school students.

Did you know: Omaha Virtual School (OVS) is a full-time, tuition-free, program within Omaha Public Schools. Our instruction is delivered through a blended learning environment, combining the benefits of the virtual and traditional classrooms. Students may work quickly through the areas they understand, take their time in areas that need extra attention, and put an emphasis on subjects that interest them most.
