UNO Air Force ROTC The official page of the 470th Cadet Wing - the "Wolfpack" Wood. Roger Cross was the first cadet corps commander. Hoag.

UNO's Air Force ROTC program was established in 1951 and was placed under the command of Colonel Allen H. The university was one of 62 institutions chosen from a field of up to 600 schools seeking the program. An Arnold Air Society Squadron was established soon after in honor of Major General Earl S. Our first class graduated in 1953 after completing a two-year condensed curriculum. In November of 1951, the Angel Flight was founded with the purpose of joining the members of the Arnold Air Society in planning events and promoting the AFROTC program on campus. It was the first such unit in the AFROTC system and soon spread to other schools nationwide, earning special recognition at the 1952 AAS National Conclave. The first Angel flight leader was Syntha Essex (nee Judd), who is still an active alum. To better serve UNO, its students and its alumni, ROTC graduates in 2007 formed the Detachment 470 Air Force ROTC Alumni Chapter as an affiliate group of the UNO Alumni Association. The alumni association currently has addressable records on nearly 600 ROTC graduates and more than 300 Angel Flight members. Detachment 470 is on track to commission 14 cadets in 2021/2022. We have over 70 cadets enrolled in ROTC this year, and we are always looking to increase that number! In addition to undergraduate cadets, we have 11 active duty NCOs seeking nursing degrees and 2 active duty officers seeking graduate degrees.

Week 27 Overview:

This week, the Wolfpack conducted physical training (PT) workouts to honor fallen heroes while also gathering intelligence for the Group Leadership Project (GLP) held during LLAB. The individuals commemorated include SFC Jared Monti, SCPO William “Billy” C. Hall, Maj David “DJ” Kettles, 1st Lt Travis Manion, and SSgt Edwardo Loredo.

LLAB commenced capstone with Operation Raven Shield, where cadets were assessed on 9-lines, Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), and expeditionary leadership under pressure. A huge shoutout to C/Capt Leslie from Det 465 for contributing to the mission and providing valuable insights.

Week 25 Recap
This week, we got to start our PT with the annual battle for Nebraska with our sister detachment, AFROTC DET 465! It was a morning full of friendly and fun competition.
We all had an absolute blast, and in the end, DET 470 came out victorious! During LLAB, we focused on fire teams and how to properly utilize them and the importance of using them in the battlefield. We also learned how to use sign and countersign. For Thursday's PT, we did another HIlT workout to focus on getting those PFA scores up!
