Open Door Mission

Join us the first Tuesday of the month for Volunteer Club at 1:30pm in our new Hospitality Center. You’ll hear a Story of Hope, get updates and do a volunteer project together. Join us for the next meeting Tuesday, July 7.

Lamar is a clear example of what miracles look like! Not the distant kind we hear about, but the kind we get to witness up close. The kind that walks into our building and reminds us that God is still restoring lives.

For years his life was shaped by addiction, jail, and prison time. On top of all that he was diagnosed with cancer, and by the grace of God he beat it. Not long after, he made the decision to enter our recovery program and start building a different kind of life.

He not only completed the New Life Recovery Program but chose to stay for Aftercare in the Bridge Program so he could keep growing in his recovery and in his walk with Christ! Over time we have watched him take steps that show real change.

After twenty years without a driver license, Lamar studied hard, took the drive test, passed, and this week he received the physical copy in the mail. That smile is the same one he brings every day as he praises God for what is happening in his life!

Congrats Lamar, you are an inspiration!

Father’s Day is almost here and time is running short. We are working to make sure every man experiencing homelessness receives a simple, meaningful gift that reminds him he is not forgotten. Right now, we still need bags to meet that goal.

Cooling & Meals Available: Lunch: 11:30-1:00 & Dinner: 5:00-6:30. Enjoy a meal and air conditioning at our Hospitality Center.
Tips to Stay Safe: Drink plenty of water. Stay in air-conditioned spaces. Avoid prolonged time in the sun. Check on others, who are at higher risk.

Charles Drew Dentistry for Children made their first visit to Open Door Mission - it was a hit! 🎉 Dr. Palmer and her team made every child feel welcome and leave smiling. This partnership removes barriers, reduces anxiety and improves health. Health truly begins with a smile! 😄

Spotted in the community garden: our pepper patch is absolutely thriving! 🌶️✨ These vibrant beauties are soaking up the sun and getting ready for harvest. Nothing beats the taste of homegrown veggies and neighborhood love. 🙌🌱

On Wednesday June 17th at 7 pm in the new Hospitality Center we are having a Graduation Ceremony that will be taped. Please come and be in our audience. Partners, volunteers, staff, alumni and supporters! We NEED you. It will be the best hour of your day. If you are ALUMNI of one of the life changing programs, PLEASE come. We are going to call the alumni to come up to the front for the closing prayer. Our Alumni sashes are not here yet but, in the future, please do not forget to pick one up at registration to wear during the ceremony. See you soon
