09/16/2026

Weโ€™d like to remind everyone to please be mindful of how vehicles are parked along City streets. Weโ€™ve recently had instances where vehicles are parked on both sides of streets, leaving a narrow passageway that can make it difficult for fire trucks, school buses, emergency vehicles, and other larger vehicles to safely pass.

Even on streets without posted โ€œNo Parkingโ€ signs, City Code requires enough roadway to remain clear for traffic to pass:

๐Ÿ“– City Code ยง 180-22(A):

โ€œIt shall be unlawful for any operator to stop, stand or park any vehicle upon a street, other than an alley, in such a manner or under such conditions as to leave available less than 10 feet of the width of the roadway for free movement of vehicular traffic, except that an operator may stop temporarily during the actual loading or unloading of passengers or when necessary in obedience to traffic regulations or traffic signs or signals or a police officer.โ€

Please take a moment to make sure your vehicle is parked in a way that leaves at least 10 feet of roadway available for traffic.

While winter is still a little ways off, we also want to give everyone a heads-up that the City's overnight parking ordinance will take effect soon. Beginning October 15th, overnight parking on curbed City streets is prohibited during the winter parking period. For the full details regarding all-night parking, please refer to City Code ยง 180-21.

Thank you for helping us keep our streets safe, accessible, and passable for everyone!

Today, weโ€™re proud to recognize the four women currently serving the City of Oneida. This is the largest female officer presence the Oneida City Police Department has ever had, and itโ€™s something weโ€™re proud of and excited to recognize!

These women each bring their own experience, strengths, and perspective to the job, while sharing the same commitment to serving the Oneida community.

Pictured from left to right: Officer Amelia Bowman-McCoy, Officer Sarah Carter, Officer Keira Mahoney, and Officer Kelsey Milana.

Together, these four officers represent different stages of a career in law enforcement. Officer Sarah Carter has been a police officer for 20 years and has served with Oneida PD since March 2007. She was also the second female police officer ever hired by the Oneida City Police Department. Officers Amelia Bowman-McCoy and Kelsey Milana joined the department together in May 2025, completing the police academy and field training side-by-side before beginning their careers on their own. Officer Keira Mahoney, who joined us in December 2025, has completed the academy and is now wrapping up her field training as she prepares to begin serving independently.

From 20 years of experience to the very beginning of a career, each of these women has taken a different path to the badge. Weโ€™re proud to have them all serving together at the Oneida City Police Department and grateful for the dedication, strength, and commitment they bring to our community every day.

Thank you for your service, ladies, and Happy National Police Women Day! ๐Ÿ’™

Today, our members gathered alongside the City of Oneida community to pause, reflect, and honor the lives forever changed by the events of September 11, 2001.

Twenty-five years have passed, but the courage and sacrifice of that day remain deeply woven into the history of our nation and the law enforcement community. We remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger without hesitation, and the families who continue to carry the weight of that day.

We remember the police officers, firefighters, EMTs, military members, and ordinary citizens who demonstrated extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable circumstances.

We also remember what followed. A nation coming together in grief, strength, compassion, and service.

As we mark the 25th anniversary of that tragic day, we honor those we lost by carrying their memory forward and continuing to serve our communities with the same courage, dedication, and commitment to one another.

Twenty-five years later.
We remember. We honor. We never forget.๐Ÿ•Š

During this time, our officers will remain on duty and available to serve our community. If you need non-emergency assistance, please call 315-363-2323. For emergencies, please call 9-1-1.

Thank you for your understanding as we take this time to remember, reflect, and honor the enduring spirit of those we lost.๐Ÿ•Š
