Spotlight Member of the Week - Karen Fisk
Sometimes a move to a new town brings more than a change of scenery, it brings the opportunity to make new friends, find new routines, and feel right at home! That’s exactly what Karen Fisk found when she and her husband, Mike, moved to Opp from Illinois just over two years ago. They were in search of a warmer climate, ready to leave those harsh winters behind. For Karen, the Opp Adult Activity Center has become one of those special places where she can stay active, enjoy good company, and make the most of this new chapter in life.
Karen has jumped right into all the center has to offer! You’ll find her participating in exercise class, Tai Chi, games, lunch outings, and our monthly Lunch & Learn presentations. She certainly believes in staying active, both here and at The Mizell Wellness Center! When she isn’t keeping busy with activities, Karen enjoys traveling and spending time visiting friends. She attends Westview Baptist Church.
Family is an important part of Karen’s life. She and Mike have shared 43 years of marriage and are proud parents of three children and grandparents to three grandchildren.
Karen’s career reflects her caring nature. She worked as a teacher assistant with special needs children and as a preschool teacher, helping young learners grow and thrive. She also knows American Sign Language, a wonderful skill that can help bring people together through communication and understanding. It’s just one more thing worth celebrating about Karen!
Karen, we’re so glad you and Mike made Opp your home and that you found your way to us! Thank you for being such an active part of our center. We look forward to sharing many more activities, outings, laughs, and wonderful memories with you!
