Selling your vehicle? Think a handshake is enough to close the deal?

Guess again!

Most people remember to sign the title when selling, trading or donating a vehicle. But many skip or miss a very important step: filling out a sold notice to inform the ADOT's Motor Vehicle Division that you are no longer the owner.

You may be thinking to yourself, "C'mon, ADOT - what's the worst that can happen?"

Turns out a lot bad things can happen. You could be on the hook for tickets, fines, and even crash liability.

If the vehicle is involved in a collision or abandoned, the current owner may receive the citations or fines. By completing a sold notice, you remove your name as the owner of record for the vehicle and help protect yourself from future responsibilities even if the new owner has not transferred the registration into their name yet.

Remove your name and responsibility from that vehicle quickly and easily online at AZMVDNOW.gov or at any MVD office or Authorized Third Party location.

🌵🤠Although conditions will be quiet today and Saturday, things will change as early as Sunday as moisture from a pair of tropical systems makes its way into Southeast Arizona.

Initially, mid and upper-level moisture from Hurricane Odalys will shear-off of the tropical system and move into the Desert Southwest Sunday. This will result in a slight chance of light showers mainly west of Tucson Sunday. More significant moisture will then push up the Gulf of California into southern Arizona with the assist from Hurricane Polo moving into the southern Baja Monday and Tuesday. Although we will see deep tropical moisture, it is important to note that the remnants of Polo are NOT expected to impact us directly.

A trough of low-pressure moving south along the West Coast the next few days will then track east across Arizona Monday afternoon through Tuesday night. Given the deep moisture in place, this feature will result in widespread showers and thunderstorms across Southeast Arizona. Expect mainly light to moderate intensity rainfall with pockets of heavy rain Monday, with the potential for more widespread moderate to heavy rainfall Tuesday as the front associated with the trough tracks through the area.

🚗🌊 Never Risk It: Turn Around, Don’t Drown! ⛔🛑

Monsoon storms can drop heavy rain in a matter of minutes, turning dry washes, intersections, and dips in the road into rushing torrents. It only takes 12 inches of moving water to carry away a small car, and just 2 feet to sweep away most trucks and SUVs.

Rushing floodwaters are unpredictable, can easily hide washed-out pavement beneath the surface, and carry heavy debris you can't see until it's too late.

🛡️ Driving Safety Rules for Monsoon Floods:
⛔ Respect the Barricades: Never drive around road closed signs or barricades—they are placed there for your protection.

👀 Stay Alert at Night: Flood hazards are much harder to spot in the dark. Slow down when driving during nighttime storms.

⏱️ Take the Detour: Extra driving time is always worth protecting your life and the safety of first responders.

If you encounter a flooded stretch of road, don't chance it—turn your vehicle around and find a safe, alternate route! 🛡️🌵
