Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible.

Do not block exits when charging.

These batteries store more energy, and fires can grow quickly if they fail.

🚒🍕 Fire Prevention Week at Oradell Public School 🍕🚒

Earlier this week, the Oradell Fire Department, the Oradell Police Department, and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office SWAT team spent the day at Oradell Public School for Fire Prevention Week.

Our younger students met our firefighters, learned how smoke detectors keep them safe, and talked about when to call 911. They also came ready with questions. Lots of questions. And plenty of stories about firefighters, too. We loved every one of them.

Our older students got the full Public Safety Fair experience. They tried on real firefighter gear, took a turn spraying water, met the officers of Oradell PD, and got an up-close look at the SWAT trucks.

Gear, hoses, police officers, and SWAT trucks. A pretty big day. But if we are being honest, we are fairly sure the real highlight was the pizza lunch in the MPR afterward. We cannot compete with pizza. Nobody can. 🍕

Thank you to the Oradell Public School staff for having us, and to Oradell PBA and the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office SWAT team for joining us.

Homework for the grown-ups: test your smoke detectors this weekend. Your kids now know why it matters, and there is a good chance they will ask. 🔥🚨

Special thanks to the City of Hackensack Fire Department for loaning us their fire safety trailer for the day.

Stop using your device right away if the battery smells strange, is warm to the touch, makes popping noises, changes in shape or color, or if you see smoke.

If it is safe, move the device away from anything that can catch fire. A damaged battery can overheat and start a fire.

❤️ In Loving Memory of Jennifer Jaimes (Moretti) ❤️

Our community suffered a heartbreaking loss last week with the passing of Jennifer Jaimes (Moretti).

Jenn was a wonderful mother to two young children, just 1 and 4 years old. She grew up in Oradell, and her family has long been part of this community, serving and giving back to the town they call home.

Her husband, Mike, is a Lieutenant with our department and her brother, James Moretti, serves as an Assistant Chief. Jenn and her family were familiar, smiling faces at town events and within our Fire Department family.

Our members mourn alongside the Jaimes and Moretti families during this incredibly difficult time.

We support our fire department families, and right now, the Jaimes family needs our help. If you are able, please consider a donation to support them as they navigate this unimaginable loss. Any contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference.
