Happy birthday, USS Constitution! On October 21, 1797, the frigate Constitution launched in Boston. Nicknamed “Old Ironsides,” USS Constitution is now the oldest commissioned ship in the U.S. Navy. She has been a museum ship since 1907.

This photo from the PSNM artifact collection was taken during her visit to Bremerton in July 1933. At the time, USS Constitution had recently undergone an extensive restoration, and she went on a national tour to thank the country for donating to the restoration effort.

A little reminder as we head into a new week. 💙

Progress doesn’t always happen overnight, and not every accomplishment comes with a big celebration.
