Tremont Avenue Middle School, Orange, NJ had no gym. In 1972 the students had to walk several blocks to Heywood Avenue School for gym class. This photo was taken walking south on Lincoln Avenue going to gym class. Tremont Ave School is shown on the top left side of the photo. This photo was taken by Dave Rossi testing out a school supplied plastic Diana camera.
The camera wasn't very good :)

The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree tradition began when Italian laborers tasked with building the plaza, pooled their money to buy a 20-foot tree and decorate it with strings of cranberries and garlands of paper 🇮🇹🎄

Do you know someone who is listed? remember, this is 1941, it was probably their grandfather :-)
This is the 1941 charter of the Italian American- Political Association of the Oranges including the first hundred or so member names. There were many more members including fathers of John Cuccolo who is listed. John was the tax collector for the City of Orange. Tony Monica 's father came later. Both lived right next door on the right side. My Grandfather, Vito Scarola is listed and lived on the left side. Grandpa Vito had Montrose Ice and Coal company as well as a Restaurant around the corner on South Jefferson street.
If you look at the 1947 photo there appears to be several hundred more members in just a few years. Close-up images of people in the rear of that photo will appear in the next post so you can see the back rows better.
Do you know someone who is listed in the charter or is in the photo? Do you know someone who was a member?
Please post with their name and what they did. If you have a photo of them or of the Political Club or Stardust Lounge please like and post on the web page so we can keep it all in one place.
C'mon guys check your photos! Someone has photos of members in the club or on the three bocce courts in the yard!
Don't let our history fade away.
Happy New Year!
