A big thank you to Clackamas Fire and Division Chief Jonathan Scheirman for joining us at CCOM today for Day #2 of our mandatory staff training!

Jonathan walked our team through a debrief of one of the several multi-alarm fires that have occurred at the Blue Heron Paper Mill, sharing valuable insight into fireground dynamics, terminology, and the decisions and challenges responders face in the field. These discussions help our dispatchers better understand what’s happening beyond the walls of the dispatch center and how our work supports the firefighters responding to emergencies.

Our staff training also included CPR/AED/First Aid training, along with refreshers and updates to our medical triage system and protocols to help ensure we continue providing the best possible service to our callers and responders.

We appreciate our fire partners who take the time to share their knowledge and experience with our team. The stronger our understanding and partnerships, the better we can serve our community together.

Thank you, Clackamas Fire and Chief Scheirman, for investing in our team! 👏

We’re not crying, YOU’RE crying!
……. okay, maybe we’re crying a little as well.

This week’s 2026 Fall Oregon APCO NENA Conference and awards banquet was a little bittersweet for our CCOM family.

On Wednesday evening, public safety telecommunications professionals from across the state were recognized with state awards for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions to the profession. We were incredibly proud to see three members of our CCOM family among those recognized.

🏆 Beth Spreadborough — Manager of the Year
Beth’s dedication to our employees, our agency, and the public safety communications profession is something we are incredibly proud of. This award is a well-deserved recognition of the leadership and commitment she brings to CCOM every day.

🏆 Kayla Brenner — Telecommunicator of the Year
As one of our Shift Leaders, Kayla consistently demonstrates the professionalism, dedication, and commitment that define an exceptional telecommunicator. We are proud to see her accomplishments recognized at the state level.

🏆 Cheryl Bledsoe — Lifetime Achievement Award
And then there was a moment that was both incredibly special and difficult.

Our late Director, Cheryl Bledsoe, was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her extraordinary career and the lasting impact she made on public safety communications. Cheryl’s accomplishments reached far beyond Clackamas County. Her leadership and contributions were recognized at the county, state, and national levels.

Accepting this very special award on Cheryl’s behalf were her surviving husband, son, and daughter. Having them there to receive this recognition for Cheryl made the evening especially meaningful for all of us.

There is something incredibly powerful about seeing the work of someone you loved and respected continue to be recognized even after they are gone. Cheryl left an incredible legacy in public safety, and we are honored to have been part of it.

Congratulations to Beth, Kayla, Cheryl and all of the 2026 award recipients! Every nomination and every award represents countless hours of dedication to a profession that often happens behind the scenes but makes an enormous difference in the lives of others.

We are proud of our people, proud of our profession, and especially proud to carry Cheryl’s legacy forward. 💛

Congratulations to all of this year’s award winners!

👋 Meet Shift Leader Teresa!
We’re continuing our CCOM Employee Spotlight series by introducing you to the people behind the voices answering 9-1-1 calls and supporting our public safety partners. 💙

Meet Teresa, a Shift Lead who has dedicated 30+ years to public safety and more than 23 years as a Shift Lead here at CCOM. Her career in emergency services began in 1993 and has included experience as a volunteer firefighter, EMT, and 9-1-1 dispatcher in both Oregon and California. When she’s not at the dispatch console, Teresa enjoys everything from music, photography, and gaming to reading, and cross-stitching. She reminds us that hobbies and life outside of work are an important part of balance.

We’re grateful for the experience, leadership, and dedication Teresa brings to our team every day, and we’re excited to continue introducing you to more of the people who make up CCOM! 💙

As we wake up this morning and begin another September 11th, we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on this day in 2001, 25 years ago.

We remember the innocent lives that were taken that day, and the firefighters, law enforcement officers, paramedics, and other first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice while helping others.

We remember the families left behind and the countless lives that were forever changed.

September 11th changed our country forever. In the face of unimaginable loss, it revealed the strength, courage, compassion, and unity of the American people. The impact of that day continues to shape our nation and generations that have followed.

At CCOM, we are reminded every day of the importance of service and the responsibility to be there when people need help most. Today, we honor those who answered that call 25 years ago, remembering their courage, their sacrifice, and the lives they gave while serving others.

Always Remember. Never Forget.
