How well do YOU give directions? 🍞🥜🍓

In Mr. Holland's Life Science class, students were recently handed a seemingly simple task: write out step-by-step instructions on how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Sound easy? It proved to be a lot more complicated (and hilarious) than they anticipated!

When following their directions literally, they quickly discovered just how many little steps we perform automatically. From forgetting to specify opening the bread bag first, to instructions that resulted in spreading peanut butter with bare hands or putting whole jars on top of a single slice, the lesson was clear: details matter!

This hands-on exercise was a fun way to highlight a crucial skill in science and everyday life- the importance of clear, and detailed communication.

At Alliance, we value homeschooling. We know that learning happens in and out of the classroom, on a daily basis. And it happens working alongside moms, dads, siblings, grandparents, cousins, friends, and more!

We hope to share some photos each month of our families at Alliance, so you can see that even though our approaches might be different, we all have the same goal in mind: to help our children learn and grow.

Bubbles + Science = The ultimate lesson! 🫧

Mrs. Kelm's Earth & Space Science students had a blast exploring the Earth's biosphere through hands-on bubble experiments this week. 🌍 One student was able to blow a bubble that measured 33cm wide!

Thank you, Leslie, for sending us these photos!
