Shortly after 1:00am on October 15, 2026, multiple law enforcement agencies in Clackamas County responded to reports of a wrong-way driver traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 205 near Johnson Creek Boulevard. Responding officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but those efforts were unsuccessful. The incident ended when the vehicle collided with a marked Oregon City Police Department patrol car near exit to 82nd Drive.

Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported. The Oregon City police officer involved in the crash was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and was later released. Oregon State Police investigated the crash and arrested the driver, identified as 63-year-old Edward Landgrebe III of Estacada, on suspicion of DUII. Landgrebe was later lodged at the Clackamas County Jail.

This crash serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers impaired driving poses to the public and the officers working to keep our roads safe. We are grateful that this incident did not result in more serious injuries and appreciate the officers who put themselves in harm’s way to protect our community.

Oregon City Police Arrest Nurse in Child Abuse Case Involving One Year Old:

On September 18, 2026, the Oregon City Police Department, in partnership with the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS), began investigating a report of physical abuse involving a one‑year‑old child. The investigation was initiated after suspicious injuries were observed on the child. The child had several complex medical conditions which required an in-home caregiver.

During the investigation, it was determined that the child’s caregiver, 33-year-old Devante Jermaine Hamilton, had physically abused the child on numerous occasions during the span of several months. Mr. Hamilton, a registered nurse in Oregon, had been employed as the child’s in‑home nurse practitioner and was taken into custody by Oregon City Police Detectives on September 24, 2026.

Mr. Hamilton was lodged at the Clackamas County Jail on the following charges:

Criminal Mistreatment in the First Degree
Assault in the Third Degree
Harassment
Menacing

Mr. Hamilton has worked in various healthcare-related environments and with vulnerable patients. Detectives believe there may be additional victims or individuals with information that could help with the investigation. If you have any information, please contact the Oregon City Police Tip Line at 503-905-3505 and reference case #26-018495.

09/11/2026

This evening we will be joining the West Linn Police Department, local firefighters, elected officials from Oregon City and West Linn, and members of our community to honor and remember all those who lost their lives and were affected by the events of September 11, 2001. We will never forget.

Please see the information below from the event organizer:

Oregon City and West Linn residents are invited to come together tomorrow afternoon, Friday, September 11, from 5:00–6:00 p.m. for the 25th anniversary Remembering 9/11 and Honoring Those Who Serve Us Today community remembrance at Bernert Landing in West Linn.

For nearly 25 years, our two communities have shared a tradition of remembering those lost on September 11, 2001, while honoring and personally thanking the firefighters, police officers, military personnel and veterans, medical professionals, pilots and flight attendants, public servants, utility workers, and others who serve our communities today.

This year carries a special message for families: two generations have now been born since 9-11. They cannot remember a day they never experienced. Oregon City High School student Gabby Rysdam will share a brief youth perspective on why those who remember September 11 must teach its history and lessons to those who came afterward—and why her generation must carry Never Forget forward.

The remembrance will include live music, the Presentation of Colors, community and youth reflections, the traditional fire-service 5-5-5 bell, military honors, and Taps. The Mayors of Oregon City and West Linn will travel aboard TVF&R Boat 59 to place a memorial wreath on the Willamette River, followed by an opportunity for families to place individual flowers in the river and meet and thank those who serve us.

Bring your family. Bring the kids. Join your Oregon City and West Linn neighbors tomorrow as we remember together.

Friday, September 11, 2026 • 5:00–6:00 p.m.
