The current Storywalk is "Tidy" by Emily Gravett! Take a walk on the path around the library (with the Storywalk signs always on your right hand side) and read this lovely picture book, page by page.
Thank you to the library staff who do such a great job maintaining the Storywalk!

Take a look at the display in the children's area of books for kids that have been challenged or banned.
A young reader was inspired by the Banned Books display and wrote why they think books are important. It reads:
"Heave Hi! Heave Ho! These library books should stay NOT go!
You may not like them, that is true. Then these books are not for you!
Instead of saying, they should go! Think about it. It could be someone's favorite book!
Now think about it. Don't you want other people to be happy. These books are great, that I can say. So let them live another day."

The Oregon Public Library family would like to thank Chaos, a certified therapy dog, for his service. Chaos, along with his wonderful human, Deb, would regularly come to the library so that children could practice reading out loud without fear of judgement. Despite his name, children would be calm and comfortable around Chaos.
He visited universities, hospitals, and the Dane Count Regional Airport to help ease anxious feelings and bring joy. We're grateful for the time he spent helping library patrons and community members of all ages. He was a special dog and will be greatly missed! 🐾

This week is , an annual observation started more than 40 years ago to highlight the importance of free and open access to information. Celebrate your freedom to read and pick up a book from our display.

Books can be banned (removed from a specific collection) after a group or person challenges (complains about the content of a book and asks for it to be removed) a book . Across the country, thousands of books are challenged and banned every year! More information at https://bannedbooksweek.org/
