✈️ Traveling soon? When you charge on a plane, keep your device where you can see it. Don't charge e-cigarettes or vapes in flight, and tell a flight attendant right away if a device gets very hot, swells, smokes, or smells strange.
That wraps up Fire Prevention Week! Quick recap:
✔️ Buy listed products ✔️ Use the right charger ✔️ Charge on hard surfaces ✔️ Charge big batteries outside ✔️ Stop using a battery that's acting up ✔️ Unplug when full

🔋✅ Fully charged? Time to unplug.
Leaving a device plugged in after it hits 100% adds heat and stress to the battery. Unplug it once it's full.
Today is Fire Prevention Day, so here's one more: test your smoke alarms. Working smoke alarms and a home escape plan give your family the time they need to get out if a fire starts.

⚠️ Your battery will tell you when something's wrong. Stop using a device if it:
• Feels very hot
• Starts to swell
• Smells strange
• Leaks or smokes
• Makes popping or hissing sounds
A damaged battery can overheat and start a fire. If you see smoke or flames, get out and call 911.

🚲 E-bikes, e-scooters, and cordless power tools pack big batteries. When one fails, the fire can grow fast.
When you can, charge them outside. If you charge indoors, never block a door or path you'd need to get out.
We put together a longer guide for e-bike, scooter, and tool owners: https://www.oregonareafireems.org/e-bikes-scooters-and-power-tools/
